Default Category Separators

Hi,

I want to know how to add subject separators on my website's menu bar? I have lots of links and want to categorize them (e.g. general, halo 1, halo 2, halo 3, forums, etc), like what lisa has done with her "flatstomachexercises" site.

I don't have any luck so far...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
gigababbler

when a thread is dying and being forgotten, you post a "bump" message to revive it and repost it on the "new threads" list so people could answer your questions.

Your site is currently down. I don't remember too well but it was a CSS menu, correct?

Probably all you would have to do is put a little space between categories and title them if you wanted to. Simply put a text between the menu.
It might be a bit more difficult in your case, depending on code. But it shouldn't be much trouble at all.

GigaBabbler,

I am sure you can modify the css styleshout so that you can incorporate headings for the different categories.

Are you going to put your website back up? I will take a look at your css stylesheet once you do.

I think the reason why you're having trouble when you just enter text (and not links) into the menu is because of all the javascript code associated with the menu.

Here is what I would do.

Above the code for the menu, just enter the name of the category as text. Do not enter that text within the code of the menu.

If you're familiar with CSS, you can create like an H2 tag with all the different characteristics (font size, color, background, decoration, etc) that you would want.

And so in your main page, you can just enter "<h2>" followed by the name of the category, then close the h2 tag.

Then, the menu code.

Repeat the h2 tag and menu code for as many categories as you want.

Ok, I hope this makes some sort of sense

I just tried that, and still no luck.

Here's part of the code:

<h2>General</h2>
mymenu.addMenu("home","home", "index.htm")
mymenu.addMenu("main","main", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("frontpage","frontpage", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("dreamweaver","dreamweaver", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("golive","golive", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("swish","swish", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("tools","tools", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("help","help", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("features","features", "#")
mymenu.addMenu("examples","more examples", "#")

Did I do anything wrong? Cause the menu still disappears.

Thanks,
Gig

Try to adding it a little earlier in the code...

try this:

< td rowspan="2" valign="top" bgcolor="#D5D5D5">

< h2>Hello</h2>

< script type="text/javascript" language="javascript1.2" src="popouttext.js">

I hope you can find what I am referring to. I am not sure this will work, but worth a try let me know.
