Red face New here and have a question about dreamweaver

Ok I am just new to this and have been reading so much information.. wow so much anyway I read on lisa's site(thanks so much) about dreamweaver.. im getting my site built right now because I know nothing about building a site.. only thing I can do is a my myspace page.. but i noticed that you stressed so much about knowing how to update your own site and not have to depend on anyone to do it for me.. which is a good idea.. but anyway.. dreamweaver is pricey.. so I went to ebay. and I see a sealed copy with 2 days left.. for 9.99 sounds to good when amazons cheapest is 129 for a used copy.. im sure the price will go up. but it might sell for pretty cheap.. could this be wrong? cause im thinking of bidding on it. but want to make sure I get the right thing.. its dreamweaver 8

thanks

hmmm... I would be too reluctant to even bid for something like that. It's too cheap... it could be a pirated, copied, or stolen version (which doesn't permit you to use it, even if you bought it from a third party, i.e. the ebay merchant).

I don't know... I guess I would keep my eye on it.

Also, does the ebay merchant selling this have a reputation, reviews, etc for the same product?

Hey wanna_be,

Here's the thing with ebay. Make sure you read the auction thouroughly. I usually don't purchase items from someone with 0 but at the same time, people have to start somewhere, and there are good ebayers out there that are just getting started. Another thing about the price, most newbies on ebay don't know much about how to sell things, so there are some cases where a newbie would put something up for sale and "under-sell" an item simply because he/she don't know the ebay game. Most experienced ebayers as myself usually look for these type of auctions to take advantage of the "under-priced" item and then resell it at the right price, but that's another story. Another thing to consider as ssmorgan said, make sure that it's absolutely new. The seller could have resealed it after using it meaning the product key would be used on his/her machine. And if that is the case, there could be a chance that the seller didn't roll back the product key when uninstalling the program.

Basically, this is going to be a judgement call on you. I would ask the seller a series of questions about the item to see how long it takes for them to respond and to see if he/she are willing to respond. If they respond quickly and willing to answer every question, then they could be a trusted ebayer.

Whatever the outcome turns out to be, let us know here on the posts. Also, you can google "dreamweaver 8" tutorials and find hundreds of "how-to's" that will surely help you with your dreamweaver endeavor.

Hopes this helps.

Default Getting started with or without dreamweaver

If you can get dreamweaver for so little it probably doesn't hurt to try. But you can do quite well for even free by downloading free editors like NoteTab.

The important thing is to learn a little about the coding itself which you can do by going to w3schools.com. There are a lot of outdated tutors but this one is always up to date and great to use, completely free. Study html and css. Those are absolutely needed and all others are optional.

You say you are having your site done for you. Make sure you get someone who does it in up to date code (css layout, not tables...).

If you learn just a little html and css you can take your initial pages as templates and make all the pages you want yourself. You asked elsewhere about more pages and you will certainly want more than the four you mentioned if you want to build an effective content site.

Good Success!

James

I gotta agree I seen an episode of judge judy on tv where the ebay seller sent some kinda fake item to the customer where he was totally sued and chewed up by judge judy. It was a while ago but its still in the back of my head, seriously. I just picked up dreamweaver for 329.00 new which I thought wasnt bad cuz I believe the reg price is like 599.00 or so.

However depending on the niche and size of your site you could do without it and still be successful.
