Default Flash and You Tube

I am not too happy with my YouTube site. I need to completely redo it before I start my marketing push. I want to be able to load the videos in a targeted spot on the site, using Flash, so all I have to do is updated the links and they all point to the same targeted spot.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this? Any suggestions will also be appreciated.

Hey Eddie, (it is Eddie, isn't it?)

Are you loking to make a Flash application that will sit in the center of your page where the videos are now? If so, I can walk you through that, it's relatively simple. I'm assuming, of course, that you do own Adobe (Macromedia) Flash? If so, I do need to know which version. (MX, 8, CS3).
I'll be more than happy to help.

Yes, it is Eddie. Thanks for offering to help.

I have MX 2004. At this point, I'm not sure where I will put the flash app. I'm thinking I will be placing it on the right and the links on the left or vice versa. I'm gonna start building the new site today.

But let me get it straight. I will be able to simply make the links and the videos will play in the flash app? That will be great.

Thanks again.

Yes, That is easily possible. Flash is a very versatile program and most would be amazed at what can be accomplished with it.
You can create the video player or use one of the .mx_loader components coded directly into Flash.
You can simply edit the "contentpath" string on the loader to load the specific movie when the video thumbnail is clicked.
If you want to make it almost effortless, you can dynamically load the contentpath through a text file as well as the thumbnails. (not sure how you are doing that right now)
If you do it that way all you have to do change and upload a small text file every week. Let me know how you want to do it and I'll get you going.

Hey Eddie,

Is this what you're looking for? (It can be resized and moved anywhere in your page.)

If it is let me know and I'll help you set it up.

Wow, that is exactly what I'm looking to do, but with an archive section using only text links. Man, you are good!

Thanks but I can't take credit for that one.
I was making one and went to youtube to figure out how to download or link to their videos. That player is actually on youtube's site under the user account.
You can create your own - so I did, the easy way.
Who knew?
