Default MacroMedia Dreamweaver 8

this is one awsome bit of software that helps alot if you host your own website or your web hoster allows FTP, it lets you drag and drop onto the webpage and you can create a link by clicking a few buttons. you can create a website by visual construction if you dont know html or you can make it from HTML coding entirely, you can also add html snipplets and it shows up instantly!

you may need to go to download.com and search for DreamWeaver8 its a product from Adobe.

i've never been a dreamweaver fan but I think that's mostly because I'm an avid frontpage user. I've heard dreamweaver is really better but I've never been comfortable using it. Have you ever used frontpage? Just wondering how you'd compare it to other editors. Dreamweaver seems a bit intimidating to me.

yes i have used both dreamweaver and frontpage... i find both simple to use only because i am a software programmer so i know how the software side works... dreamweaver gives you more options but isn't very good if you are not familliar with technical software, its more of an intermediate way of beginning and frontpage is simple and easy mainly designed for beginners that want to learn how to make a simple website that isn't very complicated...
im not sure how to put this sorry... Dreamweaver gives you more options but you really need prior experiance and frontpage is a simple website maker with few options and you dont need much experiance to use....

hope this helps

Default dreamweaver

This is the program that I use. The one thing I have to say about it is that its built aroud graphic designers and there way of doing crops and all that stuff. My GF is one and this is what she said. The acual code as Ive seen is a little bloated but it does its job well.

yer you can actually crop the pictures and make them link to other things... and make complicated html scripts that go from one to another to another, the only problem is their may be some bugs if you go too deep

I have used frontpage, but with the new W3S standard it is a bit of a pain to use.

xhtml and css

I have Dreamweaver 8, but I must still play around with it.
It looks promising.

Dreamweaver produces _crystal clear_ code. Frontpage produces certain proprietary tags which run best only on IE.

I once created a web page in Frontpage and it didn't display properly in Konqueror in Linux. As a substantial number of Internet surfers use Linux + browsers other than IE, it is always a good idea to make your page look the same on all browsers.

Another point that needs to be noted is that frontpage needs frontpage estensions to be installed on your web host. Usually, all web hosts provide this for free, but some may charge additional amounts. Dreamweaver on the other hand uses direct ftp and so it is a better option.

I would suggest everybody try dreamweaver. It comes with a 30 day trial period.

I have to admit I am an extreme FrontPage fan. It's what helped me learn HTML back in 1998 and I just never tried anything else. Although with FrontPage phasing out thanks to Vista I think I may be forced to switch.

I've heard they tried to make Microsoft Expression (the new FrontPage) very similar to Dreamweaver and the way it functions but I haven't read many reviews and the ones I did read weren't good.

I wish I would just make myself get more comfortable with Dreamweaver because I've heard many people say it's the best.

One advantage with Dreamweaver, however, is that they roll out new versions faster than Frontpage.

Many features in front page are directly "lifted off" from Dreamweaver. For example, FP in Office Xp doesn't have the feature to draw layers directly. However, this features is available in Office 2003 and this is strikingly similar to dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver has added support for PHP and MY-SQL. Frontpage lacks this feature.

Dreamweaver 8 is the best program by far. Better than Frontpage.
It has a feature called validate markup which is a handy feature.

Dreamweaver is very good for xhtml and css

I used to be a frontpage fan, but I'm now a Dreamweaver fan

i used to love dreamweaver until i started to add script using the html > script feature... then all the bugs came out. i've got dreamweaver mx 2004, but overall it is a good program, if they fixed the bugs in the newer version. i'm looking at different html editors though. frontpage is ok, but you can do alot more with programs like dreamweaver... but there's so much to learn in it.
