Default open_realty

Has anyone had any luck using open-realty? Do you have to have a website up and running before you can upload the open-realty template? I uploaded it to my domain name but don't have the site up yet. Is that why it won't work? I started a site using coffeecup but never uploaded it.

I've heard of them but never tried. They have cute templates tho. If you haven't set up the site yet, that could be a reason its not working. Why didn't you use the one made in CoffeeCup?

I wasn't finished with it because I can't get it the way I want it. I'm wondering if I need to put 1 page up just to get something online. I'm trying to follow these directions:

Using your web browser, go to http://wxw.yourdomain.com/installpath/install/index.php. For example if you installed this on a domain called myrealestatecompany.com in a sub-directory called "open-realty" you would go to, http://wxw.myrealestatecompany.com/o...tall/index.php.

I made a folder in my root named it "openrealty" but I can't get it to work. All I get when I try to open up the page is: Directory has no index file.

How do I know the exact path?

Default perhaps...

You show:
Code:
http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/open-realty/install/index.php
In this case the browser will find the index file only in a folder named "install." It sounds as if you may be placing your index file in the "open-realty" folder, which sounds like the right place for it. But then you do not need the "install" folder in the path. In other words it would be:

Code:
http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/open-realty/index.php
Then, of course, you do not need to enter the file name to find it, just the path to the "open-realty" folder.

No luck. Here are the exact instructions per open-realty:

1. Extract the downloaded file(s) and upload to your website, either to the root folder on your site, usually called www or public html, or to a sub-folder of your root.

2. Using your web browser, go to http://www.yourdomain.com/installpath/install/index.php. For example if you installed this on a domain called myrealestatecompany.com in a sub-directory called "open-realty" you would go to, http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/o...tall/index.php.

Running the Installer

3. Read the license agreement and click the "Agree" button to continue.
4. Select the default language for your site and click submit.

My file manager shows me my path to your Web document root: /home/users/web/b376/pow.myrealestatecompany/htdocs

This is important, as most of your scripts will need to specify this location. For example, this is required if you'd like your PHP script to upload files.

I uploaded (FTP) the openrealty folder to: /htdocs

I can see the files in the /htdocs/openrealty folder in FTP and also my file manager but when I open a browser and type: http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/h...tall/index.php

I get this: Not Found
The requested URL /home/users/web/b376/pow.myrealestatecompany/htdocs/openrealty/install/index.php was not found on this server.

Any thoughts?

I have tried: http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/h...tall/index.php

http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/h...alty/index.php

http://www.myrealestatecompany.com/h...ocs/openrealty

Nothing seems to work.
