Ok, I upload all the files to hostgator, but I don't see the website live when I type the URL... Is there another step that I'm missing? I'm new to this and still trying to figure things out. I'm using CoffeeCup HTML

Make sure you have all the files in the proper folder. I believe with Hostgator this is Public_html. ( someone can correct me if I am wrong ) Once in the public_html folder add your files. If you uploaded the whole folder with out doing the files individually then your site will be found at www.yourdomain.com/foldername Also how long ago did you change to Hostgator? as it can take sometime for the servers to register the new name. Normally this can take anywhere from 2 - 48 hours depending on the server loads for the day and depending on when the routers in your area of the world updated.

Yes, you are correct I have to drag or upload the files to public.html. Now I need to figure out how to add additional we pages (subdomains).

You should be able to add sub-domains through your cPanel. Keep in mind this usually takes around 24 - 48 hours to resolve just like a normal url. Additional web pages can be added just like you added the index for your site. just link to it off of your original index.html and you will be good to go.

Sub pages can be create by creating folders and uploading the files into the folder or by creating a sub-domain in the cpanel of your site. A sub-domain is nothing more than a folder too. If you don't see your files, click the hostgator chat window on the home page of their site. It's always live and they will help you.

You can create the subdomains from the cPanel iteself. Once you create the subdomain the subfolder automatically get created inside the public_html/subfolder and can upload the web pages inside it.
