Default Filezilla/Wordpress Help?

First and foremost I would like to say hello to everyone.

I am a newbie and have been lurking around for sometime to try and figure things out on my own before asking a question, well the time has come for me to seek help for anyone who can help me.

My problem is: I recently set-up the basics for my blog but I seem to can't get my blog to open it the root. I am using filezilla as a ftp client and I can't seem to figure out how to get my blog in the root of my site in other words I want my main site to be my blog, so how do I do that?

Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome,

It's been a while since I've used FileZilla but when you initially setup your account isn't there a place to tell it what folder is your root? In other words, the default folder you want to connect to when you logon. For example, Hostgator uses public_html (check with your host to make sure) so in the settings you would tell it to connect to that folder every time.

From there, you would just upload all your WordPress files to that same area. Be sure you find out the name of your root from your host if you haven't. Some hosts use html, others use public_html.

From there you'd just tell FileZilla to connect to that folder each time.

Default See if you host doesn't do it first.

Many hosts, perhaps most now, will install Wordpress for you. Then all you have to do is add your content. And adjust design some as you wish.

I would check that first. It could save a lot of work.

I had to find the host and move my files from the blog folder and upload them to the root.

Good you found the solution. But didn't your gost have services to install wordpress for you automatically. Don't know if moving the files may cause some compatibility issues :|
