I'm designing a site for a friend that's more complex than anything I've done before. I'm using Dreamweaver to design the site. He needs to be able to send an email to his clients with a link to an updated user manual every 6 months or so (I know how to link to files, so that's not an issue). The user manual file needs to be password protected and each client (250 or so) needs his own username and password. The client needs to be able to set up the usernames and passwords himself, so I need some sort of form for him to do it. Anyone have any references or places I can go for advice? Thanks.

I dont have any references available but if i could make a suggestion, wouldn't it be easier to just use a register form linked to an sql db? And when they register there info is stored in the db then, there can be a login screen before they download the pdf? I hope im making sense. It sounds good in my head.lol.

Geekdout...that sounds like a good idea. How would I do that? I don't know much code and I'm using a WYSIWYG editor, so I don't know how that would work. Thanks!

Well when you make your login page, depending on what Wysiwyg editor you have, youll be able to link certain fields to a DB. If you need to know how to view a mysql db here is how to do it with microsoft access.

Better use server side programs and registration form for cleint and give limitation. So send the news letter for download and for downloading force them to log in and continue the process.
