Front page loads, but others wont
Hi,
This is my first website and I'm having a little problem. I uploaded all of the pages and pictures to public_html folder on CPanel. The front page works, but the rest of the pages wont load. It keeps giving me a 404 error. I'd post my site, but I'm not allowed to =/.
please help. Thank you in advance.

Sounds like your HTML code on your homepage may not be pointing to your external pages correctly. You can paste the code of your home page here by using the < > in the editor. Reply to this message. Click the < > icon above the editor box and paste your code between the [HTML] tags.
Yes I had to disable links for new members due to large amounts of spam, sorry.

wow, thank you for the fast reply. Your youtube vids are awsome too, thank you.
Anyway, I clicked on the <> on the text editor and pasted my full codes between the tags, but it contain links, which can't be posted. So, here's how I ordered the files.
* denotes .
index*html
life1*html
life2*html
images (folder contain images for index)
images1 (folder contain images for life1)
images2 (folder contain images for life2)
<a href="index*html"><img src="images/Untitled-2_09.gif" width="99" height="43" border="0" alt="Home"></a>
<a href="life2*html"><img src="images/Untitled-2_04.gif" width="99" height="50" border="0" alt="About Abortion and Our Group"></a>
<a href="life1*html"><img src="images/Untitled-2_11.gif" width="85" height="43" border="0" alt="Our Past and Current Events"></a>
The site works on my computer with the same organization. When I click on the Home link, it did go home. I also right click the other links to copy their location and check it, they are what I want them to be. It just seem like the other pages weren't uploaded, but they are.
oh, sorry about using the *

Thanks for the compliment. I edited your forum permissions. See if you can now post a link to your homepage so we can see what is going on.

Challenging
Your code looks ok, at least as far as I am noticing. Also, if it works on your computer, that leads in the same direction. It appears that there is probably something happening in the location or spelling of the files on the server. I would double check that first (not that you haven't already).
Can you clearly see in your ftp program the file structure on site? Are you sure the files are in the root folder and not in one of your other folders? For example, life1.html must be in the root along with the index.html file.

Bingo!
Notice in your screenshot, the file is named: "Life1.html" while in your code it is designated: <a href="life1.html">.
The difference is the Capital "L" on your site and the small case "l" in the code. They are not the same.
I even opened your page, got the 404, changed the file name in the address bar to a capital and loaded it to assure that was it (not that I needed to but I am the kind of guy who wears a belt and suspenders).
Glad it was no harder to find. Sometimes these little things can be frustrating to figure out even when they look simple.

I hope not.
If you are so is everyone else, and I'm not ready to admit to it...yet. That is the kind of error everyone makes from time to time. More often than not it is the little things that hang a person up. Things like accidently erasing the ending > on a tag or something. The last one that got me, and was hard to spot too, was putting a space after a "/" in a path.

That's an easy mistake to make, tn1901. I've done it millions of times and it drives you crazy. As James said, sometimes it's just the little things.
