Default Dreamweaver with Vbulletin

So, i've been using dreamweaver for a couple of different sites that i maintain. I recently bought vbulletin to put up a message board, but know nothing about php. My server administrator installed the vbulletin on his server, but i am not able to modify any of the pages or do anything with them in Dreamweaver. I'm getting frustrated because i'm not sure if it is a compatibility problem with using dreamweaver or if the server guy has just limited my permissions greatly. I get errors about not having permission to put pages. Also, i can't see anything in the design view based on the php info that i can grab off of the server. I need some help here asap!

Thanks,
Mary

Mary I don't believe you can or should use Dreamweaver with your vbulletin code. I don't know PHP either but I always open the files in Notepad if I need to edit anything.

Once you get your PHP forum installed there is an admin panel you go to to edit your forum colors, etc. so you won't really need Dreamweaver.

Now if you're trying to update your forum's headers, etc. you can add HTML to them but you still need to make those edits through your forum's admin panel.

Hi Mary. PHP is server side scripting language.
and you need to install a web server on your local machine to see the affects of changes live on your computer.
you cannot see the preview of PHP files in your dreamweaver.
because web server renders the PHP code and then displays the web page.
