hi
i want to know apart from the folder what types of files and folder i need to create for my website.
secondly,can i add my own codes to Lisa's template?

You can create files and folders you using for your website and you need to remember that the files and folders are case sensitive so you must use the name of file and folder as you named them in your links.
Each page will have a file your default is always index.html thats your home page

All your files and folders you are using for your website always go in public_html if you using cpanel.

you should be able change the code in template as you wish.

You can do whatever you want to that template. Some people have posted modified versions of the template for their site here. In fact, I encourage people to experiment and play around. I realize the template is very basic but a good starting point for newbies.

by cpanel do you mean control panelor something else?

If you have linux server than you should have cpanel and to log in
www.your domainname.com/cpanel
thats where you will have all icons like your desktop and when you click on file manager you will see all the folders and one of them will be public_html

well not all linux hosts use cpanel, some have their own proprietary control panels like dreamhost and others. Granted most due use cpanel, but the OP should let us know who they are hosting with just to be sure.
