Default My website is still coming soon

Hi guys,

im here again...

my domain name and hosting (website palace) had been confirm and said that I can upload files to my website. after a lot of attempts, i was able to transfer my files to the remote server using Filezilla.

I have also done the index.html as sample. When I click the file itself, it opens in a web browser and i was able to see the result. however, i didnt find it when i open my site.

1. I usually see hosting of website tonight more popular than website palace, should I switch while I still have the chance or what I have should be ok since I will be doing only a family website (for now, while im learning)?

2. How do I know which files of my files belong to a certain webpage (home, ..., ...)?

3. I have free templates from website palace and lisa, but i really dont know how to use them since the simple index.html file doesnt appear on my site. Do you know any tutorial on this (most of my knowledge so far in terms of website building came from lisa's tutorial and reading replies on this blog site)

4. Where do I actually edit my website? should there be any form of administrative access to edit it before publish?

Ohhhh,,, sorry guys for all the questions, I tried doing things myself but at this stage, i really cant do it without your help. and dont want to quit trying either. thanks guys!

I use Nvu editor to make websites using templates and make changes to my pages and upload them on the server.

Default Start with this.

Bheng

Your web site trys to open a file called index.html (or index.htm) when you use your browser to go to it online.

For example, entering http://www.websitebabble.com/ would open a file at that location called index.html. [ok, don't try it because Lisa uses php programming and you have to use index.php to get it to work, but let's not complicate the issue!]

If this is what you are trying (yourdomain.com) and not getting your page there are two possibilities. One is that you did not load a page with that exact name or second, you put it into the wrong folder on your host.

Getting it into the right folder is a little difficult for some people. The index.html file must be in your root folder. That should be the one that is labeled like your domain name.

Open up your site with FileZilla (you can connect just as if you were going to upload another file) and look at the file index.html to see that it is correctly named and placed in the right folder. It is hard to imagine that your problem is anything else since the file works on your computer. Since you said you have it on your computer, if you don't find it on your domain you just upload it to the correct folder with FileZilla--drag and drop it is the easy way.

As far as editing, just edit your files on your computer as you have done, then upload and overwrite files on the site to update them.
