The important thing to do when you have too many ideas is to get organized. If you organize the ideas into various subjects you may find it easier to develop the ideas into web sites.

Developing pages for a web site is fairly easy to do, once you get the hang of it. HTML is meant to be easy to learn.

Sometimes I find have too many ideas is much easier than having no ideas.

... a learning process indeed. just learning something simple step-by-step is the way to go. do it at your own pace. me for example... i can never get motivated at home. i can never come up with the ideas or topics. so, i finally found this really cool cafe that i go to where, because of the atmosphere i guess, i become so motivated and the ideas come out of nowhere. it's about 15 min. from where i live, but to get some content and a place to concentrate? it's worth it. i've also met alot of great people there, mostly college students.

i guess when you're surrounded by people who are busy at studying and learning, your mind becomes at ease and follows through with what everyone else is doing.

so don't be overwhelmed... i didn't know one thing about web design, but i'm trying and learning more each day... alot of it from this website because of the great people here. one word of advice, if you're ever stuck, just ask. find something you like, then just write about it. don't worry about the design yet... just keep writing. then, when you think you're finished (5-20 pages or so), then come back here and we'll all help. good luck!

(and i implemented few of my old ideas which now just collecting dust). The disappointing thing is, i know i can do them but i don't have the time. Being a professional developer, having the professional knowledge to build web applications and being young (full of testosterones and energy) is i guess bad. You know too much which means you have high expectations from yourself but can't deliver as fast due to due to lack of time and commitment. My dilemma is that, i've a full time web development job which I sort of enjoy. But what i really want to do is work on my ideas and turn them useful products that people are happy to use and form my own company around my inventions. What do you guys do when you have too much on your brain? Its a bad trait for not being able to focus on the task at hand. How would you tackle this problem?

Whoa! Doesn't sound like too much energy to me. Sounds more like too much ADD. I'm not kidding. You might wanna go see someone.

Apart from that, you need to pick a task your passionate about (make a list and do eeniemeenieminiemo if you have to) and do NOT let yourself begin something new until you have the original task on a very solid base.

I always find it fun to follow the who's on-line page on website babble just to see what topics the guests are viewing, and by coincidence I saw the title of this thread that has been long buried, and also is a description of most of us.

I always face this problem because I'm a web designer, graphic designer, Flash animator & ActionScript writer, blogger, and painter I also self studied photography, Internet marketing, Egyptology, Astronomy, and Neuro Linguistic Programming "NLP" and I also love to read.

All these topics are ones that I really love, so no matter how hard I try I never give each one the attention that it deserves, but fortunately I have an Iron head, which means that when doing one of these things I sometimes stay without sleep for more then 72 hours, I know that that's not the right thing to do but I feel that life is too short to sleep everyday, I don't know if that sounds crazy or not "I was kidding anyway" but really I always ask myself do I already know all I wanna know? Will I know it 10 years from now? Maybe & maybe not, only time can tell.

Default info overload Deadly

info overload its deadly I had it for so long going from project to project not finishing anyone just trying to take in more and more info it comes a time you have to choose 1 direction become successful then more on...make you first $50 then $100 and so on (info over load is one of the biggest obstacles in online marketing failure) dont give up if you fail at first fail fast and keep going dont get up but get into the race.

So true and the more website development and ecommerce matures, the more information there is to absorb. I can't imagine how I would have felt had I started in the past few years versus 10 years ago. There is soooooooooo much info out here so that's why it's always good to take your time and make sure you research all your options.

hey Lisa,
but the problem is that if you research all your options you just might never have time to choose one of them to apply.

I should have explained my comment clearly. I was making a separate point about the brainstorming phase that was unrelated to your original comment. When I said research all your options I meant research the different WAYS you can make money online (affiliate marketing, ebay biz, MLM, selling your own product, etc.)

What triggered that thought was a conversation I just had with a friend who is so overwhelmed with the "internet money making concept". She had no idea how people made money or where to start. So my advice was to first research and learn the different ways you can make money and then make a decision based on what method interests you the most.

(I didn't mean to suggest that I was saying research every topic out here. I agree, at some point you have to make a decision.)

Many people who set out to make money online choose a specific method (affiliate marketing, MLM, etc.) because they see other people succeeding and they don't take the time to research what options suit their own skills.

MLM, for example, is completely different than affiliate marketing. So someone who succeeds in affiliate marketing may be horrible at MLM and vice versa. So my point is that everyone should research and choose methods that suit their skills. There are MANY ways to make money online and often times people get stuck focusing on one method.

For example, writing is something I enjoy and has been my strong point so content affiliate sites have worked well for me because I can do what I enjoy. I don't think I'd be very good at most MLM programs because you have to be more sales oriented and aggressive for the most part. That's not something I enjoy.

I read an article about a guy who tried 4 different sites on affiliate marketing and failed. He joined his first MLM program and made 6 figures in his first year because he loved interacting with people and was good at cold sales and convincing people to buy/sign up, etc.. So he found the method that suits his own skill set. I don't remember the name of the site but that story always stuck with me because his point was that you can't just chase the money. You also have to acknowledge what you're good at and what you enjoy.

That was a very long-winded way of saying, "Research the many ways you can make money online FIRST and always consider your skills, what you enjoy doing, etc."

Default Your not alone.

You are definitely not alone on this thread. I am one who also has umpteen different idea's free floating through my head and am never able to actually focus those idea's out into fully functioning web pages/applications. And really after reading through this post and thinking about it, at least in my case, there really is no reason for me not to get something done. I do work full time. BUT: im not married, no gf, i don't even have dog. So I do have quite a bit of free time. Maybe it's our desire to try and accomplish everything at once that brings us down to never accomplish anything.

from an idea called idea until you turn it into an end product, it's certainly a process. I am in the same situation with the topic owner. Ideas just pop up naturally and i need some time to visualize how that idea's a benefit to someone, some nich market. Next, think about how to present that product to those who need it. Anyway, you should be very creative to generate ideas every second

Hi there,

I am newbie here and found this thread very interesting esp, Lisa suggestion referring Allan Gardyne associate program site and her own ebook (yet to read it completely but, found no intension's to hide part of info to make money out of it kind). Thanks for that.

"too many ideas..." problem is there in all IT fields I guess and solution would be organizing work lot and time management as suggestion in other posts. Well it helps me to consider that from the beginning in my case.

I have long way to go with this forum.
Nice to see many helping to each other here.

Sunil.
