Default Personal Facebook Page Versus Facebook Fan Page and Business Facebook Page

I went through reading some good stuff about using Facebook as a marketing tool in this forum and was so much encouraged. I have a personal Facebook page though i have not been interactive than i should be. However, i have heard some people mention of Face book fan page which would be good to promote one's website. So, my question is, should i create a Facebook fan page or Facebook business page to promote my site or my personal face book account is just enough?

When it comes to interaction, should do communicate more of what i do or just respond or comment on regular posting done by people, which some of them are like birthday celebrations or day today happenings in around the world which are not even related to my niche? I do post regular posting of links for the articles from my site into my face book account but never get any comments. I would like any advice how i would start using Facebook as a marketing tool in the proper way without messing up people feelings about me or the content i post.

Looking forward to hearing from your. Thanks a lot.

Facebook recently upgraded their algorithm and admitted they are limiting reach to force people to spend more on ads. But the best thing to do is mix up your posts. Post questions regarding your niche, informational articles and even add some fun posts from time to time, quotes, etc. Also try to use larger images when you post because they may get more attention and interaction. You also have to be consistent with your posts.

I have seen mixed reports, but I decided to have two Facebook accounts. One for personal and one for business. In fact I heard from one very successful Facebook user that he has multiple accounts for different agendas.

He also suggested we post Albums instead of individual photos. A block of 9 photos often catches the eye even more than one big one and he also suggested adding famous quotations to each photo to encourage sharing.

    Lisa,
Thanks Lisa for your feed back. Does it matter whether is a personal Facebook account or is it advisable to create one for business, where your interactions are wholly limited to business stuff about your niche, not social issues like birthday celebrations and the like.

Currently, i have a personal account which i do post article links, from time to time. But i do appreciate to learn that one could post fun stuff , quotes, etc.

Thanks so much for the additional information on adding more photos to grab attention and adding famous quotation. That is very nice and i know people would love such famous quotes.

I use both my profile and page for promotion. My profile tends to be chatting among friends and doing actual social networking whereas the page is for sharing useful content regularly.

There is a Social Media Examiner podcast episode which addresses this question and the interviewee mentioned a friend who was a realtor using a personal FB profile. He used it to build up his authority on the subject and maintained a social presence in the periphery of the minds of his FB friends. I think there is completely different tone and different expecations when you use a profile. If you use your own name it helps your personal brand.

I have personally only used my business page and not my personal profile to promote my business, but as Darren has shown, it can worth either way.
