    Default A Welcome message

    Above which painting are you suggesting I should put a welcome message?
    I guess I am still old school. When I visit a site or a blog, the first thing I look for is a welcome message. I want to know what to expect to find on the site. If you want to use one, I would think something on the lines of your welcome on your .com site. Most everyone has an About me page, so something on the lines of:

    "Welcome to Nkcoli's Art Design Studio. On the following pages, you will find an eclectic collection of personal acrylic art, that I have designed and painted. My artwork, reflects my Nigeran heritage, and features such paintings as African Flutists, landscapes and animals of my homeland."

    If you decide to use a welcome message, I would put it at the top of your page, just under your header. You could then reduce the topmost image to a smaller size and left adjust it so it is part of the welcome message.

    Very nice site

    I see you are getting a lot of feedback. I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but the title tag of your blog's home page is blank. You may want to add a title to your home page.

    Thanks

    Just a few things, I thought that the text in your header was a little hard to read as the red text doesn’t pop out and I thought there was a little too much happening around the post headings.

    Also your posts text seems a little small and bit bunched up.
    Yeah you're absolutely right, will adjust them ASAP

    Your baby photos, while very cute and I think these images would better compliment your ‘About’ page.
    You have a point there. I'll move them.

    Your art obviously has some serious commercial potential and I would look to try and sell your pieces straight off of your blog, I especially like the parrot painting.
    You're very kind indeed

    If I come across any great wordpress gallery themes I’ll be sure to let you know.
    I'll appreciate that very much because I'm thinking of revamping my entire website and have been looking for a neat template.

    I actually removed it because it was interfering with the header. Dunno how to deactivate the header from the template.

    You have a point there. But shouldn't the tag line "Paintings by Nkolika" take care of that. And again since the blog is supposed to be part of my website wouldn't it be too much repeating the same things again.

    Would like to know what you think

    Your sheet may look a little different but will probably be close.

    The title tag interfering with the banner is actually a theme issue. to cure this all you have to do is go to your header.php and remove the div for it. should look something like this.

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="<?php bloginfo('html_type'); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>" />
    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />
    <title><?php if (is_home () ) { bloginfo('name'); } elseif ( is_category() ) { single_cat_title(); echo ' - ' ; bloginfo('name'); }
     elseif (is_single() ) { single_post_title(); }
     elseif (is_page() ) { bloginfo('name'); echo ': '; single_post_title(); }
     else { wp_title('',true); } ?></title>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/script.js"></script>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    <!--[if IE 6]><link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/style.ie6.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /><![endif]-->
    <!--[if IE 7]><link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/style.ie7.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /><![endif]-->
    <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="<?php printf(__('&#37;s RSS Feed', 'kubrick'), get_bloginfo('name')); ?>" href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>" />
    <link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="<?php printf(__('%s Atom Feed', 'kubrick'), get_bloginfo('name')); ?>" href="<?php bloginfo('atom_url'); ?>" />
    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />
    <?php wp_head(); ?>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="main">
    <div class="Sheet">
        <div class="Sheet-tl"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-tr"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-bl"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-br"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-tc"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-bc"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-cl"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-cr"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-cc"></div>
        <div class="Sheet-body">
    <div class="Header">
        <div class="Header-jpeg"></div>
    <div class="Logo">
        <h1 id="name-text" class="Logo-name">
            <a href="<?php echo get_option('home'); ?>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
        <div id="slogan-text" class="Logo-text">
            <?php bloginfo('description'); ?></div>
    </div>

    </div>
    <div class="nav">
    	<div class="l"></div>
    	<div class="r"></div>
    	<ul class="art-menu">
    		<?php menu_items(); ?>
    	</ul>
    </div>

    The section you need to remove is this.
    Code:
    <div class="Logo">
        <h1 id="name-text" class="Logo-name">
            <a href="<?php echo get_option('home'); ?>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
        <div id="slogan-text" class="Logo-text">
            <?php bloginfo('description'); ?></div>
    Then you need to remove the Divs related to these in your CSS sheets.
    This will remove this from your header but not from everything else.

          <?php if(get_bloginfo('description')<>'') { ?><h4><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></h4><?php } ?>
          <div class="clear"></div>
    What do I remove?

    Before you do this make sure you back up your original header.php file incase this is wrong. But it looks like this should be it.

    Code:
    <h1 class="logo"><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
          <?php }  ?>

    Next guess would be these lines here as it is calling for the image in the line above this.
    Code:
    <h1 class="logo"><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/"><img src="<?php print get_option('arclite_logoimage'); ?>" title="<?php bloginfo('name');  ?>" alt="<?php bloginfo('name');  ?>" /></a></h1>
          <?php } else { ?>
          <h1 class="logo"><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
          <?php }  ?>

    OK the only other place this will be is in your CSS sheet. and it will be in these div tables. class="logo"

    This is one of the issues with working on a theme you didn't build is trying to figure out where people place things at.
