I've been crazy busy with work lately and haven't had much time to devote to the site. I logged on the other day after not looking at it for close to a month and decided it needed a new layout. After having what seemed like fresh eyes on it, it just didn't seem right. Can you guy please take a look and see what you think now? Im not quite sure if it is over kill or not. Dont forget to check in the lower left hand corner, it's a simulated windows taskbar and through there you can access all the articles as well as change the layout.Any ideas or thought would be appreciated as to if I should keep this or go with a more general, less to look at,simple approach.

Hey Geekdout, just went to your site and it seems like a useful website with some cool pointers. I did notice a couple of things that might help your website.

First when I scroll up and down, it does not have a smooth flow to it as the page gets a little glitchy. So if you can fix that I think your site will have a better flow to it.

Besides that I think you would benefit more from using a lighter background instead of the black one you have right now as it is really straining on the eyes.

You can also add a most pouplar articles section and a related articles section to keep your viewers on your website for a longer time.

Finally I would move the Home, About , and advertise tab to the top. Every time I click on an article and then try to go back to your homepage, I immediately look to the top for your home link before realizing that it is on the bottom of the page. So I think it would be more user friendly to put the home tab on the top.

Besides that you are good to go!

It's a nice Windows-look to the site. The one issue I notice is with a widescreen monitor.

I am using a laptop with a resolution of 1440x900. At this resolution, there is a lot of unused space on your blog. Perhaps you can either change to fixed width, or stretch out our content area to fill in some of the space.

Default Good work...

Just a brief look, but I did note a couple of things.

First, when you have longer articles titles I would reword and shorten them on the right side menu column. For example the first one now is for:

"How to wrap content around Google Adsense Ads in WordPress"

In the side column it gets shortened to:

"How to wrap content around..."

I would recommend shortening it to:

"Wrap content around Adsense"

or something like that which will fit on the line and better communicate the content of the article. That way if people are scanning down the nav listings they will get a better idea of the articles' contents.

Second, I would add some additional content to the right column. ustadbongo offers some good content ideas.

I like the color scheme myself. As the farmer said when he kissed the cow, "Everyone to his own taste."

Overall I really like the look.

Really impressed,

I love the taskbar at the bottom, my only suggestions would be to change the post header color. It's pretty hard to read even for my 19 year old eyes.

Lastly I think your site could really do with a bold logo.

Apart from that, good job.

1. I love the colors...Dark backgrounds don't usually work for me, but I am experimenting with the same thing. The dark colors of the background and the lighter colors of the foreground, compliment the whole design quite well.

2. The logo seems a bit plan to me..I have seen the pencil/clipboard on quite a few techie sites...I would look for something with some more punch...Not exactly sure what...maybe a computer with alighting bolt..something to punch up the logo...?

3. I have also been experimenting with the fixed backgorund and the scrolling foreground...I really like this design.

4. I know everyone likes to put their mug on their site, but I like something else...I would forego the pic and insert a video , perhaps like one of Lisa's YouTube videos with you introducing yourself and your site, or make it link to one of your introductory lessons...just a thought...

5. I would take a hint from Lisa dn put a site search, just below yoiur pic, for those wanting a quicker search of the site.

6. The home page is a bit long for me...I would shorten it and put the other stuff on a second page...The old adage of seven paragrapsh per page is my rule of thumb.

7. Wifey is calling me for supper, but thats what i see so far. Really like the layout...

Thanks everyone. Ill take all that into consideration. Did anyone happen to test the feature through the start menu to try changing layouts? Or did anyone notice it?Lol.Just curious because there should be settings in there to suit most everyone's taste in color schemes.

Oh and actually there is a site search. If you click on the pages "START MENU ICON" theres a way to search articles in there. It's in the bottom left hand corner of the page.
