hi every body
i have created this site www.highblack.com with joomla. but i realized when i take a look at the address bar i get these very long URLs, so my questions are;
1. how can i get them to appear short and meaningful with atleast my key words or just the page titles?

2. how do i make sure that the individual pages get ranked or become SEO ready.

i am still working tho, i have so videos to upload and an internet radio station too, so anyone with some other suggestions will be welcomed. thnx family

A good looking site.

The content was very interesting but you will have a lot of work to do to complete the project. Many People and Places still to research.

The CIA site has good info on the present state of all the countries, mainly statistical, but you should be able to include some of this content along with Wikipedia and other sources.

Watch out for typos (eg "Sarah E Godee.......... was born a slave in the 1950’s" ). Either get someone else to proof read your pages or go back and read them yourself a few days after you write them.

You can get Joomla plugins for the SEF (search engine friendly) URLs. You can also get SEO plugins.

Hi Donk, thnx for your help, the site is going to be updated always.

this is one of the major drawback of Joomla based websites. You can opt for mod rewrite for this purpose. The best thing you can do in this purpose is to get as much deep links from other websites as possible.
