A few observations
Excellent site. Very well done. No major issues that I see right away.
Personally I don't mind the black, and the black and red look pretty good together, but the header area does come off as pretty dark. The top two sections are too close together in color which causes some eye strain.
Also, even though red and black sound like contrasting colors the word "the" and "place" are also difficult to read. I like the effect around the words somewhat, but I don't think it really works here. Readability is very important. You can read them, of course, but they cannot be read as easily as you should want.
In a similar vein, the bird on the twitter page hardly shows. Perhaps you need to recolor the bird (yellow?).
Some small items. In your popup box for registering to receive notifications there is no padding to the right of the [close] link so it is right against the border. Needs a few pixels spacing.
You have a few other spacing problems. Both page under money making buying and selling have headers with two lines and no line spacing at all it appears. This needs to be fixed.
Your page is lengthy. This is OK with the given content but you should then put a "Return to Top" button at the bottom of the page.
Your copyright date is 2008. This needs to be changed to 2009 or 2008-09.
