My very first site^^

Hi there,i'm an italian student of mandarin chinese at venice's university. Being interested in online reviews, a week ago i built my first website about paidto- programs,and afterwards i came across lisa's forums and i eventually realized that this is the best place to get opinions concerning my work^^ . You'll find the link in the signature

ps: You'll find no downline-increasing links on it,i want my reviews to be reviews,not mere concealed promoting activities^^
pps: Tell me your opinions,even regarding the placment of bidvertiser-adsense ads!!

Hi Gotti and welcome!

Nice site. You may want to try adding some more color near the top of your page as it's a bit dull. For example that lady on the laptop might look better sized down and aligned to the left or right at the top of your paragraph with the text flowing around her rather than centering her in the middle of the page.

Also space your paragraphs out more. It makes for easier reading. Paragraphs should really be no longer than 4 lines (5 max).

thanks for the tips^^ ..i'll work on the paragraphs tomorrow..but which program could i use to work on the very picture?
i thought i could add some exchanged links from similar sites to the top of the page to brighten it up a bit,what do you think?

Good start!

Just a quick question... what are your future plans for your website:
Is this a hobby site or are you trying to reach a specific target?

Here are some things I have noticed:

I agree with Lisa on the spacing issue... 3 to 4 lines per paragraph would be great for reading. Also, for emphasis, you can have sub-headings, which would break up your paragraphs even more.

In addition to paragraph spacing, be careful of spacing before or after commas. Typically, it should be: word1 comma space word2 (hope this makes sense).

Also, I have noticed a few typos and words that start with a capital letter in the middle of a sentence. I realize that you've done that intentionally with some words.

I know you mentioned that you do not want links in your website, but it's easier and more intuitive that when referring/reviewing a website to include a link (affiliate link, maybe) to the page... that way, people can visit the site. You can make the link open in a new window, that way, your site visitor will not lose your website. Also, it won't be so bad if you make some money from it

At the bottom of most pages, you have 2 images (cursor/question mark and group of business individuals discussing something)... they seem out of place, do you have plans for them?

You're doing well, keep working on it...

you are helping me a lot,yes i know the images are out of place,but the thing stands thus: in yahoo's control panel at present i'm not allowed to modify the html version of the subpages,therefore i cannot erase the blue squares as i did with the homepage,and i have to fill them up with images...i just didn't know what to put inside them. I'll work on the paragraphs as soon as possible after school..
are you guys acquainted with yahoo's webhosting?becuse i find it quite difficult,their control panel is so easy,but they don't let me work on the other pages with html,and i don't know why!!!
otherwise i would place ads or links there

Do you think i need to switch to another webhost??In that case can i keep the domain name??

That's the problem with many free hosts, you are often limited to what you can do. If you switch hosts you can keep your domain name. Yahoo doesn't own your name, you do. When you find a new host you have to login to your domain name account and change your nameservers to the values your new host provides.

Gotti, if you're paying $10/month for web hosting, I think that they better let you manipulate the html code for any page on your site!

I would contact their customer service and ask them how to do that.

While we are on the topic... how did you create your pages?

Did you create a text file with an html extension (i.e. filename.html) and FTP to your server? Or did you use a yahoo built-in site builder?

The thing stands thus: to add content i have to use yahoo's site builder..but if i want to put ads or change them with new ones i have to use the html editor of course...the point is that the two systems don't work perfectly together:
Exemple:
Lisa told me to change my paragraphs the other day,so i tried to do that but if i change something on the site-builder and i update,i lose all my ads..so i have to come back to html editor,put the ads back again...loosing my site-builder's changings...
it's kinda difficult to understand if you're not acquainted with yahoo...but you very likely already noticed that it sucks.. terribly...i must email them

I am sorry to hear about the issues working with the yahoo site builder and the html editor... it sounds like a huge hassle!

Hopefully, they will tell you that maybe there is an "html module" within the yahoo site builder. That will allow you to insert html code that would get incorporated correctly within the code generated by the site builder.

I agree with Sherif. That's ridiculous that you are paying for this service and cannot update the HTML. There's got to be a way. If not, CANCEL immediately.
