Default Please be merciful on me!!!

Hiya people,

Finally.............finally, I have gotten my website off the ground. Took some time off to create it and after very harrowing (oft frustrating ) times.....I thought it was now worthy for your review.

Here it is www.art-devine-slasher.com

Whatever you do please be merciful on me .....I wrote my own html here and did it from scratch (used hostgator's template).

Thanks a lot for your time.

Default Looks good

It wasn't totally my area of interest.. but the amount of content seemed to be good.

The only real critique I have, from a surfer's perspective, is that everything is kind of pushed down the page. When I click on a link on the nav bar.. I like to see something.. BAM in my face telling me what's going on. Seems like the Search bar is the reason that things are being pushed down the page.

Maybe also poplulate your text with some of your art.. have that art be a link to different galleries.. etc.

I agree with dstang21. There is definitely a lot of unused space at the top of the page. You should include as much content above-the-fold as possible. The content that is at the top will determine if your visitors stay or move on.

Default A few things to help.

What the other have said is right about space. I notice that you have inserted a lot of break tags (<br />) between paragraphs and the like. The paragraph and title tags have space set already so you can take out most if not all of these and get rid of a lot of the extra space all through the page. That would help a lot.

Also, I would move the navigation to the left side. People have to hunt for it on the right side, so it makes using the page more difficult.

Then there need to be a little more space, just a little, between the left column and the center column (notice especially how tight the "testimonial" is to the center column text. I would check the padding on each of the two columns and see that there is a little in each.

Finally, don't feel intimidated working on this template. It is not all that easy to follow. I am sure you will do well. Just take a little at a time.

Hello,

Thanks Cody, James, Technie guy and dstang 21 foryou valuable input.

Yeah, I used a lot of <br> tags and will remove them as you have adviced. But the reason why I included some of them in the first place was to get the site to look good in Safari and Opera.Nevertheless,I'll look into it.

James,I wonder if I could alter the template. Would have loved to have the Nav bar on the left but didn't want to burden myself with how to get around the template. Again will look into the padding in the testimonial page.

Thanks people. Will love to hear more from every other person.

Smile Nice Paintings

Overall very nice website. My only little problem would be what others mentioned. Plus right below the website tittle are works I can't read(guess I'm color-blind lol). If you could brighten up those fonts.

Otherwise, your doing great! Continue chasing your dreams.
