I meant to get started on this almost a year ago but had some issues. However it's under way now and i would like some opinions on the colours\theme of my site. Disregard the picture of money in the header and footer they'll be replaced with something related to the site (the content will be uploaded soon). I'm happy with the layout but feel the colour scheme is lacking http://shakediets.info

The colours you chose aren't bad, but I did find a few things:
1. I find that there is a lot of light-blue. Perhaps you can remove some of the blue boxes, and just keep the blue boxes for the navigation on the left?
2. Some visitors may find it hard to read the blue links in the blue boxes because the contrast between the two colours isn't great. If you want to use blue for the links, then perhaps you can lighten the boxes background colour, or darken the links to increase the contrast.
3. The box that includes the poll, and the boxes below it are pushed down the page in IE7. I'm not sure if this is by design, but it does add some white space above the polls that looks out of place.
Other than that it looks good, especially the nice large font. Easier to read since it is larger.

I agree with TechieGuy, especially about the font contrast in the navigation. I assume you just wanted the navigation colors to be different from those in the right column, but the appearance and contrast of the black text in the right column is much more readable.
If you do not follow his recommendations you might even want to just follow the color scheme found there.

Thanks i needed that info i've been fiddling with it for so long it became a bit diffucult to see the forest for the trees
I think i've fixed the colour issues, now to look into the fonts and IE. When i upload the changes i'll come back for another opinion
