Are you going to earn from Adsense or others? If Adsense/Ads, change your templates for more clicks, if others ,pay your attention to your contents for more returned customers.

Lets see, do you use dreamweaver or a DW like program to edit your templates? If so then maybe put more adsense down the right side using your software, if you use like a website builder that maybe your host provided then look at how to edit the right side of it.

(doesn't have to be adsense on the right, just an idea what to add there, you can add most anything!)

Good Luck!

I think that is a good plan Bruce. DW is a great program and really, the visual editor makes life so much easier. I never look at code unless I'm adding an action script or something like that. Also, I am now thinking that your first page should be a small mission statement about what the site is and how it can serve others. The bog block of text when you hit the first page is a lot to shift through and would be better as the second page. And the Adsense on top is still an eye-sore to me...it's a slow process but think of how far you have come and how much experience you will have with the next site... Take care and all the best.

Default A couple of thoughts

Your page has some nice features. I like the head picture and navigation.

The width of your header seems to be the same as the content column rather than the page width but extends to the left side so it doesn't extend over all the content area. Consequently, it appears that it needs to be wider.

I would reinforce JazzGuy's comment about the ads, too. If they were side by side, rather than one under the other, it might work better. The way it is the whole area that is seen when the page opens is dominated by the ads.

You might even consider narrowing the content column and adding a third column with the ads, but the current layout looks pretty good in that regard.

The content does need to be broken up so it is not so "gray" to use the journalistic term, a big blob of gray text that makes the idea of reading it all seem challenging. You could easily break it up with several sub heads or other graphic techniques.

I don't know what more I can say!

If you could place some of your ads across the top to the empty space on the right, I think it would greatly improve the visual aspect of your site.

Also, I would recommend that you try to split up your content into paragraphs (I mean with headings with just give a general overview of what it's about). because some people find it difficult to read long blocks of text. I realise that you might not want to over do it, though.

I really like your site. It's very informative and approaches the topic in the correct tone (though I'm sure you know more about this sort of thing than I do ). Overall, it's excellent.

Thank you so much. I will keep working on it and break up the paragraphs. You're right people don't like to read a lot of text.

Hey Bruce,

I agree about the front page being a bit bloated with text.

I think if I hit that site having just lost a relative and faced with the task of arranging a funeral, I more need to be TOLD what to do.

The info is there, and is great, but maybe 10 clearly defined steps in the order I need to do things (or however many steps there are in the process) would be preferrable to a huge chunk of text I need to trawl though.

I've never had to arrange a funeral, but I imagine my head would be all over the place at that point, so a clearly defined plan with defined sections, would really put me at ease.

Just my thoughts...
