Conceptskateboarding live and running well!
Hello fellow babbler's, my skateboarding website has been live for about a week i have been busy advertising my site using myspace and youtube (full of skateboarders lol).
I am really impressed with the website and its set to paying the hosting cost this month which is great (thanks to google ad sense and there targeted ads).
I have asked for a few reviews and this is going to be my last one, after i have corrected any changes after this review i will keep the same layout etc but just keep adding content and i will be getting some products sorted out for the shop. Please note it's only been 4/5 months since i thought of the idea, i have been working very hard on this website and hope for it to succed. Since i published my website a week ago i have got some possitive feedback and involvment from my target market.

Review thoughts
Page looks good but I found a couple of issues.
One, the graphics are taking an awfully long time to load. I was sure some of them must have been broken links they took so long. Did you resize them for web page use? If you did you may need to find some way around this—perhaps clickable thumbnails, for some of the images.
Two, the links column needs some attention. The color of the text and background do not contrast enough to be readable. The title ("Related Links") reads well so you could use white for all the text in that column, but you may have a better idea.

I agree with James with regards to the related links colour.
As for the images, some are quite large on the "Skate Spots" page. I noticed that your images are rather large, but are resized by the browser. You should resize your images outside the browser to create thumbnails.
Then again, I pretty much just repeated James.

Key word phrases
The site looks great!! I really like the layout, photos and videos, nice work.
From an SEO view, I would change some link names. For example, on your home page at the bottom you have linked the words "Our Blog" as an active link to your blog about skateboarding news. I would change the active link to be the the keyword phrase Skateboarding News.
Perhaps something like: visit our blog about Skateboarding News
Also on the bottom of the home page you have linked the word "here" to an EA Skate review page. I would link the keyword phrase EA Skate Review
Consider this phrase: Click here for the full EA Skate Review
Always try to link keyword phrases rather than words like "click here, my blog, go to forum, read this" or any other common phrase. Search engines will give you better rankings if you do this.

Thank you everyone for your reply's, i will be working on the changes today. Its thanks to you guys that i am able to create a better website everytime. Jordy thanks very much for your kind words, i have also been on your homestead blog and it helped me allot. I also check out your youtube video's for some help. With regards to this your post i will make those changes for sure. It makes much more sense to man the links using keywords.
James and Techguy i did use the browser to re-size the images..cry. I will sort that out, i think i will buy photoshop or use it at school to re-size the images. You are very right about the "related links" i will change the colors until they look good.
Thanks allot everyone for your time, i always listen carfully to feedback and inreturn i will be helping were i can for site reviews.

Gimp is great! Although I have the latest Adobe CS3 Design Suite, for my more "stuffy" clients, I would use Gimp in a second. I love freeware and open source programs and speaking of which, for resizing images, I use a great freeware program called IrfanView which can be found here http://www.irfanview.com/. For resizing images and doing other things, it's a great utility and I think it's definitely worth a try. Take care and all the best and the site is looking fine...

I think that the sidebars should be a little smaller to add room for text in the center. The photos are also a bit big for my taste--everything is just too busy
But it's not a bad start at all!
