Default My new site

http://www.funeral-planning-guide.com/

This is my very first site using SBI. I'm new to online selling/marketing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do have one question? How do you incorporate affiliate links on your site if you didn't do your own html?

Thanks,

Bruce

Hey bruce,

I think you site has a pleasent feel to it with a good contrast of colors which suit the theme. My only concern would be with the title and sub-title I think they conflict each other as they have similar text lines, so perhaps change the sub heading to a something a little different.

When someone visits your site you want to make sure they stay there for at least a while anyway, so you can help them by doing this by including lots of links intergrated into the text so say in your paragraph there is a word such as "casket" you link to the page all about caskets and so forth.

Secondly I think that 2 areas should be filled with social bookmarking buttons, either move one to the other or vise versa.

Finally put back links on pages on your site to different pages or your home page.

Great job and have fun.

I think your site offers a lot of great information. The only thing I'd suggest is making the link titles more search engine friendly. At the moment there's an unnecessary funeral-planning-guide written before the page title. I'm not sure if it negatively affects search engines but having a url called burial.html looks a lot cleaner.

Hi Bruce. I liked the site for the most part. There are however a few things that I would address. First off, I would add a graphic on each page that was calming but not sad. Some of the images you have, while relevant to the page/site theme are too dramatic for me. While I want to learn more about planning a funereal I don't want to be reminded of the grief I'm going to have to go through with the loss of a loved one (that's just me though). Plus you have images on some pages and not others which plays with the uniformity of the look.

You also have two links to two different blogs. One on your right navigation and a different blog link on other pages. Pick one and get rid of the other...

Another tiny issue I have is the social bookmarking buttons. For me, this topic is very personal and I'm not sure if I would want to be "broadcasting" my plans to the everyone on the WWW. Also, I feel they take away from the aesthetic of the site...but once again, that's just me.

Also, I'm not sure what the "request guide" is for. It tales me to a sign up page but what am I signing up for?

Other than that, I think you'll have a great and informative site on your hands that can benefit those in need, and that to me is what makes the WWW a beautiful thing... Take care Bruce and all the best.

Lyle,

Thanks so much for your input! I will drop one of the blogs. I am in the process of getting more graphics and try to "tone down" the sad theme.

I'm a big jazz fan btw!

Bruce
