Default Please Review TeacherSideJobs.com

Hi Everyone,

I recently updated my entire website. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have to help improve it. New content is being added weekly. I was unable to get the title next to the apple at the top of the homepage.

http://TeacherSideJobs.com

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Let me first start out by saying that I do like the layout. It is simple and gets the message across and the color works nice, however there are 2 things I would change.

(1) The apple. It just doesn't look right. Perhaps search for a better animated apple or even a real apple. It looks as if there is supposed to be a shadow but on the black background it just looks like there is an extra outline.

>>>Go to Google and type in Red Apple. Check out the images and see what you can use for free.

(2) One of my biggest pet peeves. You own the url www.teachersidejobs.com. You need to have your correspondance come to you at that...not sbcglobal.net. You can choose multiple emails.
Info @, contact@, Teacher@, advertise@teachersidejobs.com.
You get the idea. It makes you look more professional, larger and more organized.

Hope this helps a bit.

Default Design ideas to consider.

You have a good idea for a site and some good content. There are a few design issues that really do need attention.

First, as "Mr.Trump Jr." says, the apple doesn't look very professional at all. It even looks as it has selection dots around it from the graphics program.

Then, you do need to get your title beside any image at the top. I cannot tell you exactly how because I notice your template is based on tables and I just don't use them for layout, but I do notice that you have done it on your other pages so you should be able to see how you did it there and do the same on the first page.

In addition, I would separate the second part of your title from the first so that "Teacher Side Jobs.com" is the title and "Supporting Teachers Everywhere" becomes a sub-title in a smaller size type. Look at Lisa's title on this page as an example of the potential for a better design with this approach.

One more thing I notice right away is that your content column on the home page is really narrow. I am sure it is because of the large width on the "featured business" but then it needs to widen under it. The way it is your ad column is wider than the content and there is a lot of blank space that doesn't really work well.

If nothing else, why not put the featured business into the content column? That way you can widen the content column and reduce the width of the right column.

These technical issues are not as major (in terms of work) as getting worthwhile content, but they are glaring at times and can hurt traffic and appearance of competency.

It irks me when i see this as well. first thing comes to mind, unprofessional or not an expert. i guess because it's so easy to create an email at your web address.

i have friends with small businesses that do this and i don't understand it, unless you don't have a website.

keep up the good work though.
