Smile My Site: Easy to understand Web Development Tutorial

Hi, I just finished the first stage of my tutorial site.
Tastyseed provides introductions, overviews, and tutorials for web-related topics.
Our beginning focus is web development; Basically, "How to create websites."
The tutorial is very easy to understand and is meant as a very basic conceptual overview
that will actually pay off much more since it acts as a foundation.

Any comments welcome, thanks!
I'm looking for feedback on quality of content, as well as clarity and understandability.
You can also comment on design, layout, functionality, etc.
www.tastyseed.com
I will also do my best to review some of the websites in this section,
and feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like.

Neat site. One thing... on your right nav, the gray navigation boxes sort of looked as if they are inactive and may be hard to read on some monitors.

Ill be honest. I dont like it.

Firstly your table structure is set to an usual width. Im not sure what its set to but I am having to scroll left to right on a monitor set to 1024 X 768. On my other monitor its ok.

Secondly the layout appears unstructured. Its floating all over the place. Was that the intended structure? What is "content" and "map" ??? I cant click on those, are they supposed to be menus??? You have this massive white spacing at the top of the page - I can only assume that you are viewing this on a monitor set to a high resolution..????

Your site isnt indexed correctly within Google - you might want to take a look at this. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...seed.com&meta=

Apart from that I see you are using CSS and divs which is fantastic! and I guess the colours are nice and appealing.

I think the site could potentially work given some further enhancement.

great site! But one thing I'd recommend is having better navigation, so you can show off all that content.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure and message you when I have more content!

Thanks for the feedback. Your observation regarding the gray navigation boxes are exactly correct. They are meant to signify that the link is currently inactive (meaning there is no content contained on the page). I have a little explanation for that directly below the navigation tree. =p

Thanks for the feedback webman, good to hear that its userfriendly!

Thanks for pointing out the differences in resolutions. I had the min-width set to about 1200 initially, then 1100 and after taking a look at it on a 1024 X 768 I see exactly what you mean. Indeed quite ugly. I have since adjusted the widths and all should be displaying as intended now. Perhaps you can take a look and tell me your thoughts.

Regarding the "CONTENT/MAP" headers, well the idea was just to have a very visual separation of elements. The whole theme of the site is a very directed, guided, simple information platform. Due to the lack of graphics and visual richness (of the template structure), I decided to add that. So your opinion is it is confusing and not needed?

Regarding the google index, I have followed your link and am not seeing anything "out of place". Maybe it is the lack of links you are referring to, to which I would reason it is because the site and more importantly, the content, has been up for a total of 4 days now. I imagine it would take a bit longer to propagate.

Lastly, since your review was the most thorough I would just like to convey a very genuine appreciation for your time and thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback on my site. What exactly do you mean by better navigation? Or rather, what do you feel is lacking or unclear about the current navigation? That way I can know on what points to address specifically.

Thanks so much.

well, when i first visit your site, I see a title page of a guide, with most of the pages hidden behind it.

Of course, there is a table of contents at the side, but still, it's hard for users to navigate through the good information you wrote.

What I'm saying is that you should have a clear, straight forward menubar like lisa's flat-stomach-exercises.com .

My apologies. I didnt realise the site had only been "live" for 4 days. Im assuming that you must have had something in place beforehand to have those 2 pages indexed within Google?
