Default Please review my site (be brutal :))

Hi

I have put together a site using the Joomla platform and would like to know how people see it. I have used Joomla just because it does the job I need and more and its easy to rearrange if need be. Its primarily a video share site based on a single music genre that eventually I plan to expand on. There is a forum and I know its not the best but its there for the future and more importantly its the backend for the comments on the videos. The is a wiki that I am working on for the site but that is not yet complete (but running in the members area) and thats about it really.

Just looking for usability and monetization tips (not sure about the google adds in the header) Erm... Its only two (ish) weeks old so I need to iron out any creases now

Here is the url: http://ukgarage.tv.

Also I this is probably not the place to put it but I have set up a sub-domain that points to a folder that contains an index.html. Now I would like to be able to set it up so the domain will find the index rather than type it in. here it is:

http://watch.ukgarage.tv/index.html , If you write http://watch.ukgarage.tv it comes back not found
Is there something I need to do to make this happen or cant it be done?

Thanks in advance
Dan

The top of your site is not too bad, though I would not put advertisements there, for me, it interferes with me trying to get a handle on what your site is about.

Also, explaining a little more about uk garage and yourself upfront would help. You say it's a wiki, but what is it a wiki about? Is it videos in garages in the UK? Or videos from garages of people from the UK? Or something else?

Also, I would try and clean up the left, middle, and right side of your site to flow a little better. On the left and right, there are quite a few options. The middle flow of the text is a little hard to follow, a more paragraphed approach with more clear headings and bolded text in a few spots would help. For me, I like to use Lisa's 2createawebsite layout as an example for good flow.

Anyways, that's my brutal approach. I like that you are doing a website and know the challenge involved. I didn't realize the time and challenge of doing a website until I started mine, so keep your chin high, you are doing a good job. I hope the feedback I've left will be of some use.
