Default Please Review Site

Hello All!

I'm asking for a honest site review from those who would be so kind to do so.

I only ask several things:
  1. Please be honest with your evaluation
  2. Please give recommendations on changes

Honestly there are two things about the site I don't like:
  1. Header Graphic
  2. Navigation List

If you've got some recommendations I would really appreciate your input.

Your site has a wealth of information and that is ultimately what will make it successful or not. So in your case you are off to a great start!

1. You gotta change the colors, ouch my eyes are burning...LOL

2. Post in the forums somewhere for help with your header image

3. Popups are bad, or at least I thinks so

Other than that keep on keeping on your doing great!

You do have a lot of great content and information.

The site is very professional looking, but kind of impersonal. When I know a site is not built by a large corporation, I like to know a little more about the writer. I had to go out to your blog to find your profile.

I love the heading you created on the newsletter page (5 power points of poker).

I am not an expert and not completely sure what to look for yet when looking at other sites so it is difficult for me to give a really valuable review yet. That being said, the home page as more of a sales pitchy feel to it, to me. I was looking for the ebook download at the end. Maybe changing the font or adding some pictures might add a little warmth...then again, maybe it is fine...this is just my own impression.

I did notice a couple of typos you might want to fix...on the Betting Strategies page there is a place where Texas needs to be capitalized. Also, on the Contact Us page some code came through in one of the paragraphs. Oh...and you flip back and forth from Us and We to Me and I...I think the Me and I are fine to use...again, giving a little more personalization to the site...but at any rate, you should probably pick one way to go and stick with it throughout the site.

Both links give me the same layout so I guess you must have changed it over...I like it better. It is much easier on my eyes than the other one was.

I am still not crazy about the font. Other than that the information looks very good and you have a lot of it.

Forget what I said about the code on your contact page...this time I really read it and () dummy me...it is supposed to be there!

I like your green banner with hand and cards

What I don't like is the maroon navigation color on both sides of page.
Try to blend colors in better.

Otherwise the site looks promising

Thank you to everyone for your most valuable input. I've updated every page with NO ERRORS (one of my goals) and I have changed the navigation colors.

Hey I am the first to admit I suck at color cordination.

I do have a question though. I plan on adding more material (much more) and does anyone have any ideas how to organize the material in such a way as to not add it to the navigation links? Any input would be appreciated.

As always, thanks for your help. You guys and gals have been really nice and helpful. It's nice to visit a forum where you are surrounded by really friendly people.

Default A suggestion or two.

Your navigation is an important consideration. Even with the number of items you have it would help to divide it into sections, perhaps. For example: Basics, Intermediate, and Advanced skill sections or whatever works for your overall design and topic list.

To avoid getting too many navigation links on the home page you can do a couple of things. One is to create tiers under what you show. When you go to something on the home page link you find a different navigation for a group of sub-pages.

Another way to do it would be to make the home page menu into section titles and have a list of pages drop down to choose from when you hover on each of those links. You have to draw up a schematic diagram to work from.
