Don't you love CSS! I bet you'll never go to the old ways again. That's how I felt. I like your layout. Seems to me you need some more greens or color in the actual container of your page where your content is. There's a lot of black text, sub heads and links and I think changing the colors of your sub titles (I'm assuming you used Header Tags for those) then that might spice up your content area a bit.
I said "green" because that says "pond" to me but of course whatever color you think looks best.
Oh and on your "What's an RSS Feed" link you have a quote instead of an apostrophe.

Very impressive site. You have put together a lot of great information. If anyone looks at your site they will certainly see why content is king. Once anyone interested in ponds looks at your site and starts reading they should be hooked for many return visits.
One minor issue, the font in the content is Comic Sans MS, but in the "Site Overview" the titles are in Comic, but the description is in a different font. Just wanted to point it out even though this is a very minor issue.
