Default My site is four days old: Please review

I would like to start off by mentioning that I have realised my mistake in creating a forum before-hand. In fact, I realised it before I came to this forum as I find it hard to get visitors to post or even join and those who join just plainly don't post.

Anyway, the banner is ugly at the moment, I don't know how to create a banner that will resize automatically depending on users' resolutions. My site has a width determined by percentages so it scales and always appears in the middle no matter which resolution but the problem with images are that they always have fixed sizes in pixels. How can I combat this?

Furthermore, I'd like people to review my website's usability and the quality of the content. It's still pretty new so there are only a handful of articles, tutorials (hacks) and so forth. Personally I think I could spice it all up a little by maybe just adding a few more images to give it colour within the pages although I don't like having too many images myself I realise that my visitors' opinions most-likely differ.

Any help and constructive criticism is greatly apprecieated.
My website: http://housebaked.zzl.org

Thanks in advance

Post Comments and Review...

Ulrich,

I briefly look at your website and for it to only be four days old it looks like you've been doing this for a while. Me personally I really could not see anything that needs to be corrected. Also I was hoping that I could get some pointer from you because I am just starting out with my sitehttp://www.arnouxalifamily.org.

Exactly, how long have you been doing web page designing or is this your first? Well until next time keep up the good work. Oh and by the way I will be picking your brain for the knowledge you have.

Rashid,

Thank you for your time.

My website is four days old but I have been doing web designing for about two years if not a bit more. I have already reviewed your website in your own post. For more HTML information keep checking back to my website. I have already published my first HTML tutorial of a sequence that I'm starting.

You can view the tutorial here

Default web site lookin good

I checked out your site and I like it a lot. I think your hacks section will grow to be one of your users favorites, lifehacker.com has some goodies. I really appreciate the simple but functional design, many people get a little carried away developing a website to "look" cool but they forget that content is king, you have not, and I commend you on that.

Oh, and its always good to find another penguin fan, your review was in depth and solid.

Changed the font sizes a tiny bit and added some padding to make things look a little bit less cramped. Also note the URL-change.

I think I might have had some downtime. It seems to be up now.

Thanks for the comments!

I use Debian now for about 2 years and have been using Ubuntu/Kubuntu before that for a year.

Thank you nixwebo.

I did make another change or two but nothing that's really noticeable except that I changed the banner in the hope that it looks more appealing.

The other things I changed are the link formatting for better SEO.

dude, 4 days to make all that?!

It took me a month just to make a "homemade" style template...which I abandoned.

Keep it up man.

Thank you too Gigababbler. At the time of opening this thread my site was four days old, but it will be a month old in four days or so - I have made a great amount of improvements and additions in the meantime and I just like informing people to hear whether a change is better or worse.

Thanks
