Default Ok, I'm up! I need constructive input on my blog

Ok, it's in it's very, very, very beginning stages. I only did 4 posts since I started last Thursday. Hasn't been a full week yet-

It looks like I have a few things going on but let me explain and maybe this will or won't make sense to you. I want Handleyourbusiness to be like a informational blog. I will be going over to SBI in a few weeks so in the meantime I'm going to write different blogs about different topics instead of combining them in one blog (thanks for the idea, Lisa) even though part of me still feels like I can pull it off-

See, HandleYourBusiness can be covered in different areas: internet fraud, fianances, career, family, etc the list is endless. My first blog I wanted to share a few internet scam/fraud issues, credit so this is it.

And please remember this is my first blog so 'be gentle with me'-

I didn't realize this was in the wrong category so it may have gotten lost. I've moved it to Site Reviews.

I didn't notice this before but one thing that sticks out right away is your description is very vague. I get from the title that your blog is about "business" but beyond that it's not clear.

If I'm stumbling on your blog the first thing I want to know is what are you going to tell me about "handling my business." What is the theme of this blog other than business. Of course I get it after scanning a few posts. I'm just concerned you are going to lose some folks with the vague description at the top.

What does everyone else think?

I agree. It is difficult to determine your overall theme. I got the idea that your blog is about sharing information that can help people on a variety of topics. If that's the case, I think you should change the name. I didn't get the "business" aspect at all.

I also think you have too much going on at the bottom of the page. It looks like you just threw a bunch of affiliate ads down there. Besides the google ads, the rest of your affiliate ads are not that relevant to your content.

I think you should rearrange your sidebar and footers to make it easier to navigate the site.

Since you have just started out, I wouldn't worry too much about advertising as you proably don't have the traffic to make it work yet.

In the sidebar I would put the following in the this order:

1. RSS Subscription - Allows someone to subscribe to your blog's RSS feed.

2. About Me - adds a nice personal touch to the blog).

3. Categories (called labels in Blogger) - Organize your posts into specific categories and then list these in the sidebar. This helps visitors find posts relating to a specific topic.

4. Archives - Allows visitors to easily view past posts.

Keep the Entrecard widget in your sidebar as it helps to get you noticed. You may also want to join FeedBurner (if you haven't already done so). This service is free and allows you to do more with your RSS feed.

Concentrate on writing unique content, and then when you get over a hundred visitors, you can then begin focusing more on monitizing your blog.

Default Good Feedback

Thank you all for your feedback. I suposse HandleYourBusiness is vague and I guess a little 'slangish'. I wanted something to grab someone's attention. Any ideas for a better blog title then? You know when a person states that they have to 'take care of business' that could mean different things in different ways and I guess that's what I was thinking.

I need ideas, suggestions on a new blog title then. I want to continue in the the informational format, you know?

How about FYI.blogspot.com? or ForYourInformation.blogspot.com? How does that sound instead? Then I could have different posts in those areas? Am I making sense-

And West and TE, I like what you said. I will make those changes. See, this is good for me, I get to learn the dos and dont's - I appreciate it. Slap me upside the head, you have my permission to do so- That's the only way I'll learn since I'm new to blogging.

Thank you again!!!!!! I'll post back after I make the changes!

I like fyi.blogspot.com. Hopefully it's still available. If not, what about infoshare.blogspot.com?

Default Changing Blog title and url????

Actually I was shooting for FYIblogspot but for some reason I can't change the url. I'm looking into Blogger Help to see if this is possible. I'm editing my post. I found exactly what I was looking for. FYI.blogspot.com or infoshare is available. I was able to change it to: info2share.blogspot.com

Thanks West! Oops, I need to change my signature-

Default I'm Back!

Ok, after moving some posts around, getting rid of some ads, I'm realizing that there's no way I can combine everything on one blog. It's just not going to work. When I combined everything I had a lot of posts BUT it was just too much information, at least that's what I think.

I took TE's advice and set up labels as categories but as I look at these categories, I'm starting to wonder if I could or should add more. I doesn't FEEL right to me. I think I should focus on three topics I initially wanted to blog about. Finances/Business topics, Job-related topics and finally computer tips (since I'm still working IT and I deal with these things on a day-to-day basis so they're fresh in my head. 3 Topics with each of their own blogs.

Lisa, you were right all along about this blogging/niches now I understand your explanation from before-

These are my blog titles: Info2Share, BlogOnTheJob, BlogThatComputer

I'm cranking out content and I decided to take a little break to check back in.

Renee
