I have found that “nitch”, I truly have a passion for capturing family journeys. I am genealogist and have been building text family trees for about 20 years. People are always asking me to build their tree/research their family history. This grew into a business that is about “Bringing Precious Memories to Life:, through reunion booklets, Custom Family DVD Shows, Restoring Old Photos etc.. I sat with MS Publisher and put together a website: www.inhisimagecustomcreations.com. I tried working with DreamWeaver, but did not get it as quickly as Publisher.

Now I want to get this service front of what I feel is my target audience; older people, spiritual folk, church folk because up till now that is the bulk my new customers; referral, word of mouth; we do real nice work. They instantly see and feel the value in capturing their precious family history in a special tailor-made fashion.

Any feedback on site, content, approach, wording, anything you could offer would definitely be appreciated.

What you are doing is great. The key to any web site is good content and you have better than good stuff to work with.

I do foster care for senior adults and have a man presently who has a memory book of his family that is the focus of his life. His memory is going, but the book brings back both memories and gives great joy.

There are some things that could improve your site.

First some technical things. Your template leaves a lot of space occupied at the top and bottom on the right side by the graphic background. This throws off the balance of your two pictures and doesn't fit the page onto people's monitors. Also, if you keep the top bar which matches the dividers below I would raise it to join the top background and widen it to match what is above. It loses its purpose with a small meaningless space above. Also, your navigation on second level pages is very widely spaced. While I assume that was done on purpose it doesn't match the home page. I think similar spacing to the home page would be better because you do not want to do anything to draw attention away from the content.

As to content, I think I can give a couple of helpful ideas. First, when going to a web page like this, even though you are basically describing what you do I think your home page might better be used to focus on the benefits of what you do rather than describing yourself. What you have is more like an "about" page which is also very important. In other words you might be better off selling the benefits, the emotional and personal reasons people might want your product/services. In addition, I would follow up with some testimonies or examples of people using your services. For example, statements like that in my second paragraph from people using your work would be great. One or two included in the first page content and perhaps a separate page just for testimonials would be a great compliment to your site.

Sorry to be so long, but I really want you to have a good site. I like what you are doing and hope you continue to be very successful in what you do.

I really like your site concept and niche, your images and your content. You sound like you are passionate about this topic, and this is a very good thing when writing about something you know a lot about.

My suggestions would be, you show some of your work on your frontpage, write a quick step by step introduction on the process people will take to get there personal family tree done.

As for the aesthetics of the site, you definately need to centre your webpage as James said theres a lot of blank spaces around your site which lack content and images.

Also you could advertise some Amazon ads for your DVD's books and more gear related to your topic as it definately fits in and suits your site.

But to summarise your site is very nicely layed out and I wish you all the best on your journey ahead.
