Default Site review please

Hi Everyone

I hope that everyone enjoyed their holidays!

Ok so I am still trying to create content but it is time.................

I am still learning how to make my pages look a little different...most look the
same in layout (got a good HTML/CSS book for Christmas ) so any advice would be appreciated!

One nav bar not quite wide enough - don't know how to make it larger?

Not quite sure how much to sell SBI - Lisa any thoughts? Put my first SBI videos on my home page and one on the about me page. Should I keep it at that? If I create a page on SBI and my story am I 'going' off content too much?

Thanks guys!

I like your colors and very good personal tone with your writing, that's important and often lacking with many sites.

I would definitely limit the SBI promotion a bit, though. Since your site is not about website creation it looks a little forced and "oversold" the way you have the videos on your homepage IMO.

I would not create a specific page about SBI! since your site is not about making money. It's much more subtle and effective if you simply create an "About Me" page and mention you used SBI! to build your site. Another member here did that and got her first sale recently.

My SBI! site is about fitness and I only mention it on one page, my About Me page (since my SBI! site is not about website creation).

Hi Star,

Site looks good over all, a couple of things I would suggest are:

1. On the nav bar drop the contact to the bottom.

2. Drop the SBI from your home page and about page. Build a tier2 page for SBI. Having it on the homepage may confuse human and search engine visitors as to what your site is about. Pilates or SBI?

3. Ad more images.

4. Center your page.

5. Utilize the SBI blog feature.

Keep up the good work

Default Good start. Help with nav

Adjusting your nav bar should be easy (if you don't force adjustments then to be made elsewhere which is always possible).

Open you page file in a text editor. Go down to the line starting:

<div id="Nav" style="position:absolute; width:130px; ...

Change the 130px to 140px or 150px. Load it up in your browser and see how it looks. Adjust as necessary.

Personally I think you site looks good overall. Since I started this letter Lisa beat me to the SBI part. She is right on target, as usual. If you gave this attention to SBI as a means of making money--almost everyone needs to do that someway--then you do need to think through the concept. It is important that whatever you promote fits your site. In this case a book about Pilates, for example, or promoting personal calls for consultations.

Good success,

James

I like your site, a little to much on the promotion side of things but very easy going neutral colours that fit in well with each other.

Perhaps you could add a slogan to your header just underneath the text pilates-exercise-for-health.com

You need to centre your page as there's a lot of white background space unused on most resolutions above 800 x 600.

Your text is well formatted and written but its a big chunk and sometimes readers find it easier to have at least one picture to illustrate and get that imagination kicking, just a thought.

Once you start getting over 10 implement at least 1 adsense units into your site so you can make a little dosh.

https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_US/

& keep it up great site you got there!

Thanks Guys!

Yes I placed those SBI videos on last night and was not sure at all!!!

Ok I will move them to my about me page but not go overboard.

Not sure how to center my pages is it just a html code to cover the whole page?

Not sure how to move my 'contact me' nav bar to the bottom of the list
The nav bars just appear like magic when I build my next page.

Thanks for your feedback! James I will try to adjust my nav bar later.

Star, from Site Central go to "Navigation Options" and re-order your buttons.

Go to:
Site Central
Look and Feel Selector
In the middle of the style box above the preview button you will see "align entire site " with 2 buttons left or center.

Thanks guys for this info - it saves so much time searching and wondering!

Can't believe that I have never 'looked' at that navigation option button...I think I need to now just take some time to click on everything. I tried to stay on the path and not go 'a clickin' on everything in SBI and totally blow my mind.

Yes, it's a lot to absorb.
