Default Help with Beginner Blogger!

Hi, I'm Allen, I'm new to websitebabble and to blogging itself. I signed up for Adsense a week ago and currently my paycheck is exactly $0.04. I have a long way to go huh? I started my blog about 3 days ago and currently I think I'm doing okay. I just need people to review my blog and to see if I have a chance at succeeding.

Please view and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance.

Hi Allen,

I really like your site concept. I think a teen blog with advice on fashion, acne, etc. is a good niche. I just switched from blogger and never tried what I'm about to ask, but can you add categories with Blogger? It would be nice if you organize your posts into categories to make browsing your blog easier.

This is a good start. And don't worry about your .04 cents, that's normal for a new blog. Just keep posting and learn about blog promotion. Have you signed up with www.technorati.com yet? That's a goody.

Also I'm a new fan of Darren Rowse of www.problogger.net Great advice on his site for new bloggers.

Good start!

Hi Allen,

I currently have a blog (started June 2007) and it is my first attempt at blogging. I have learned a lot over the past 6 months, that I'm sure will help you.

1. You should categorize your posts, as Lisa mentioned. To categorize in Blogger, simply assign a label to the post and then add the Labels Page Element to your template.

2. You should move your about me above your Adsense code, as well as your archives. The categories should also be near the top. This allows people to browser your blog easier without scrolling below the ads.

3. As Lisa mentioned, sign up with Technorati. This site will also help you see who is linking to your blog.

4. Register your RSS feed with Feedburner (www.feedburner.com). Feedburner allows you to do much more with your feed. You will also have a new RSS feed through Feedburner that you can distribute instead of your Blogger feed. You can also keep track of your subscribers with Feedburner.

5. Join many of the blog social networks. Blogging is a social medium, and the more active you are, the more successful your blog will become.

6. If you wish to advertise on many of the higher traffic blogs out there, sign up with Entrecard (entrecard.com). Many of the top blogs are registered with Entrecard, and you can easily pay for advertising on those blogs with Entrecard credits.

7. Post on a regular basis and you will slowly, but surely, get more and more visitors.

If I think of other points, I'll let you know.

Great concept and goo focus, I believe it will gain popularity very soon, like both Lisa and TechieGuy said, find the usual hang out place of your targeted audience, join in to their community and start making contacts, you will be able to gain traffic as well as ideas for blog posting too.

I think mybloglog is another good social network too.

Great work

In addition to MyBlogLog, you should also join BlogCatalog (www.blogcatalog.com).

Those were 7 great tips, Techieguy. I check your blog from time to time and enjoy your posts. You definitely make technology easier to understand, as your tag suggests.

I really like your topic Allen, have you ever perhaps thought of going into your local school and asking to put up a poster or something along the lines, obviously ask permission but you would probably be surprised how many people would be intrigued by it, i love your name and title though reminds me of a Tv advert that was on a while ago...

Also once you start getting traffic you could try some different ad types such as small word ads which can be really effective when placing them inside your post boxes so they look like a part of your content which should get you a good click rate. Just hang in there buddy and good luck.
