Question Firefox vs. Internet Explorer

When studying the SBI! Video Action Guide it mentions/suggests downloading FireFox as the browser to use once you buy SBI and start working on the site.

What has been your experience with this? If you download FireFox, does it cause conflict on the computer if you also have IE on it?

Do you think it makes that much difference to use FireFox?

All thoughts and comments welcome!

I would recommend using Firefox for web design as it has many add-ons for instance Firebug that allow you to check your html code.

Having said that I stopped using IE at version 6 so I can't really say if there is much difference now IE8 is available.

I would also recommend that you download Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera as the various browsers display your pages differently.

Regards

Bob

There is no problems with running Firefox and IE on the same computer. As Bob mentioned, you should install several browsers to test out your web pages.

With regards to IE, earlier versions haven't been following the HTML standards as closely as Firefox. IE8 is the closest one yet, but still isn't 100% compliant. Still you will need to check your site against IE anyway.

You may also want to check out browsershots.org. That site allows you to check your site against many various browser and operating system combinations in minutes.

Super information, so thank you for that!

I actually hadn't thought of the importance of checking how the webpages appear through different browsers, so that was a real nugget of good insight!

Thanks again...Annie

The guys here turned me on to Firefox last year when I joined. I also keep IE8 on my desktop, but hardly use it anymore. IE8 has attempted to catch up with Frefox, like the new tab feature, but they run behind.

I have to say I find Firefox a bit more difficult to use, but I wouldn't trade it back for IE8. I especially like the pug-in features like Color Picker the new Last Pass password software and some other things.
