Feeling Discouraged - Day 2
I have no idea anymore what niche I am going to use for my SBI site. At first, I was going to rewrite my current website on Internet Security as my SBI web site with a new look and new content. After some thought, I decided that this was a bad idea. For one thing, I think it would be very boring rewriting content that I only wrote a short time ago. Not only that, the Internet Security niche is already saturated with very professional, knowledgable web sites, created by people that learn about Internet Security for a living. Why would someone visit my Internet Security web site when they can keep up on the latest Internet Security threats on a website like McAfee, Norton, PC World, etc. My current Internet security site does not even make me enough money to pay for my monthly web hosting. Plus, the number of daily unique visitors is actually declining instead of growing, less than fifty unique visitors a day. Than I thought I'd create a website on Internet scams. However, I'd have to spend a great deal of time researching on Internet scams in order to create unique content on Internet scams. Not only that, this niche is also full of superb websites on Internet scams, some with thousands of pages. The only way I could see myself to create an interesting enough site on Internet scams would be to spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, purchasing various Internet scams/Get Quick Rich schemes, in order to write about my personal experience with various Internet scams. What if I spent all this time and money and my website failed to create many visitors and monetize well? I just don't know what else to write about that I am passionate and knowledgable about. Feel more than a little discouraged right now. Can't say I feel over excited right now about owning SBI, though I think SBI is a superb program. Despite this, I'm tempted right now to take advantage of SBI's 30 day money back guarantee. I'm on Medical leave right now, and really cannot afford to waste $300 on something that I might get no return for my investment.

Chris,
I feel your discouraged plea, however, relax, take a deep breathe and give thanks for recognizing the powerful positive affect that the SBI impact has, because before you could even get past DAY 2 of the DAY 10 program, you’ve recognized that your current website and your new initial website idea will not work for you. Now you wont waste time on an old idea or a new idea with low knowledge and low passion. Now I could say much more. However, I really would like for you to pause and to mediate and be grateful for this first and foremost.

Chris
Now, as far as the investment goes, I am not on medical leave but I have been unemployed now for over SEVEN MONTHS now, so my circumstances and investment in SBI has been channeled in a positive light. I have only ONE choice, SUCCEED. You can to. As I am on Day 3 of this SBI journey, we can move on together and have wonderful success. It is still a choice that you must make for yourself, my friend.

Now to get out of your rut, if you have not done the following, I would suggest that you do the following prior to making any other decision, take a break from the Day 2 instructions, and go the Tips and Techniques HQ and read all the articles on Brainstorming, all the articles on Niches and the all the articles on the CTPM process. You owe it to yourself.
If you follow my thread, you will see that I have been in Day 3 for almost 2 weeks and although my theme has remained the same, my site concept has changed over 25 times. I’m certainly happy that its now and not later. The roadmap has been laid out for you, however, you have to go for it on your own. These SBI articles have been EXTREMELY INVALUABLE to me. I hope you find renew inspiration for a new, rewarding and passionate niche from this time. You are at the crossroads and if you are not willing to research this offer further, then you are better off doing something else more rewarding for yourself.
There is also case study of a success SBIer, I believe Elad is his name, he spent 3 months researching for his perfect niche. And now he is having so much fun and success with that website and many more since then. It only took a few months afterwards for his site to build the momentum that he needed, but he took the needed time upfront to give himself the chance to make it happen. There is no reason why it cant happen to you also. I would be the first to say if it was easy everyone would probably be doing it. At the same time Chris this can be fun and very rewarding for you. Give yourself time to grow and learn your path to success on this venture.
I hope you find only inspiration and motivation in my words to move forward on this path or move on to something else more rewarding for you.
All the best to you during your medical leave. This could be your biggest break ever Chris.

Good points, "Mr. Potential"
Some terrific points, Mr. Potential. You name sounds appropriate. A lot of folks may think such an attitude is a little naive, but the truth is that your kind of thinking is the secret of success. Remember the little poem about the frog, "one more kick may bring the butter!"
chrisinbc, my first thought was along the line of Mr. Potential's first observations even before reading his posts. My thought was that what you have learned from SBI has already been worth the price you paid. You are buying an education and you are getting just that. A real one about real business. You might have gotten a college degree in website design and programming without learning what you have already.
Whether or not you decide to back off and regroup for a while, recognize and appreciate what you have learned. It has saved you more than money in the long run, it has saved you time which is even more valuable.

Wow, such great advice Mr. Potential and James. I would also like to say please give it time. I have read so many stories (especially over in the SBI forums) of people stuck on those early days only to come out ahead in the end. You still have some weeks left before your 30 days is up (I assume?) so there is still time. Also, just FYI, the refund is prorated. So let's say you decide to get the refund in month 3. It won't be a total loss of $300 because of the pro-rate rule. So you can still get some of it back.
Back to your Internet Scams idea. Instead of just focusing on the broad topic of Internet Scams (which I would imagine is overly saturated). Why not focus it even more to one type of scam? One thing that comes to mind is MLM vs. pyramid schemes. There are a lot of pyramid schemes that cause confusion and claim to be MLM and it has people confused. I know because of the questions I get in my email and on YouTube. People always want me to do videos on Cash Gifting (something I personally believe is unethical and in some cases illegal). So a site that focuses on a more focused side of Internet scams or pyramid schemes may be a better approach.
Just an idea. I certainly haven't done any research on this topic, but this is just an example of how you can narrow down Internet Scams. Plus, this would prevent you from having to research a bunch of programs. You could focus on a few.
But please don't give up yet.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and advice. I really appreciate it. I feel quite encouraged by all your posts and I will not give up. That is good advice Lisa to focus just on one type of scam, instead of all Internet scams. I will certainly take that into consideration. MLM verse Pyramid schemes actually sounds like a really good idea. I do know a little about MLM and I do know that people get easily confused between the two. My Mom actually used to be involved in a MLM company, and some people really did well at it. Mr. Potential and James - you are so right that I should be thankful for SBI saving me time. As you suggested, just this alone might very well be worth the price of SBI. Nothing is worse than puting countless hours into something thant you ultimately end of failing at. This can be enough to discourage a person from ever creating a website/blog again. Thanks again everyone for taking the time to reply to my post. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Chris,
You better not give up- Let me share with you MY story. I was laid off from my IT job last summer, NEVER thought it would happen to me but it did. I like to write and I like computers so I decided to put the two together and try to do something with it. I bought SBI, started initially with a niche which I ended up not liking because I realized I wasn't passionate or excited about it. This made me feel a little sad....no, actually I was mad at myself- I sent an email to the SBI folks asking them if it was too late to change my subscription, domain, etc. and they said yes!
The second go round, I took my time, went through the action guide a second time, watched videos of other SBIers and I learned that I can write/share something on what I know, what I'm passionate about and what I know others can learn from me, so I came up with the niche for my current site and I'm currently writing content in my notepad so I can add pages/content to my SBI site.
This took a few weeks for me to do this (choosing another niche). I say this to say, you are NOT alone in feeling this way. The thing is, you can't give up. Take a break if you need to but don't stay away. Take a break, think about what you know, what you'e passionate about, what is is that you can share with others - that's your niche!
Everyone gets discouraged but you shouldn't stay discouraged, think positive and don't give up. Giving up is easier than hanging in there and trying. I think you'll come up with a great idea. If you feel good about something, it will work out. That's my three cents-
Keep us posted!
Renee

Thanks Renee so much for sharing your story and your words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. I actually feel much more optimistic today and I will not give up. I'm almost back to considering doing my SBI website on Internet Security, but totally rewritten and with more of a personal flare and sharing my own personal opinion on things.
This epiphany came to me today while reading a supposed computer experts page on "how to set up a wireless Internet connection". What he failed to do is mentioning the importance of having a secured WiFi Internet connection. Following his directions, the reader would have an unsecure WiFi Internet connection, that anyone within a block could easily steal your bandwidth, hack into your Network, or even use your Internet connection for illegal activity. Anyways, reading this page renewed a passion within me, that I have not felt in a long time, to share my knowlege on Internet security with others. If I wrote content for an Internet security website with passion, my own voice, and my personal opinion about the subject, I'm certain more people would spend time reading various pages of my website. Also, using the right keywords, hopefully I would get a lot more traffic than my current Internet security website is getting.
By the way Renee, I visited your SBI website and you have made a really good start - some really good info, nicely laid out. Look forward to watching your site progress.
