Thumbs down Buying an Unused SBI! Site

hello guys,

i would like to know if it is actually possible to verify the authenticity of people reselling their SBI unused sites as they are so many scams on the net? to make sure that the seller won't disappear once he/she has received the money.
any idea?

Just like anything else there's always that risk but I personally have not heard this happening to anyone regarding SBI!. I'm no lawyer so I don't know how well this would hold up, but you could draft up a letter prior to sending the money stating that the person agrees to send over the SBI! membership upon receiving payment and have them sign it or email it back to you stating they agree with the terms. Again, not sure how binding that would be (anyone?) but that's a start.

Yackojo,

I'm just wondering, why are you asking that? You have SBI Scam in the title of your post. Did something happen to you with someone selling an unused SBI site?

I actually bought my site from an SBIer a year ago who initially took advantage of the two for one deal. They had two sites, only had a need for one and I bought the other one via PayPal with no problems. We exchanged personal info, all that stuff. The individual that is selling a SBI should have no problems providing the same info if they're legit.

I actually sold one of my packages to another established SBI! owner with no problem. We used Paypal, so if I were trying to scam her, she would have some way to resolve it through Paypal.

Yackojo,

Ok, I was just wondering. If you watch the videos, check out stories from fellow SBIers, including Lisa, myself and others, you will find out that SBI is not a scam at all. It requires time and effort but it's well worth it. You won't be disappointed.

hi rwskate,
my problem wasn't SBI being a scam but the people reselling their SBI instead.

I really don't think there is a risk-free way of doing this. You will just have to trust that the person you are dealing with is legit. But as others have already said, I've never heard of this happening with SBI!. One thing I can suggest is to try and purchase from a more established SBIer who already has a solid reputation. but from what I've seen in the forums, most of the people trying to sell an unused site are new members that did the buy one, get one free deal, and really have no use for one of their sites.

Hola,

The matter is strictly down to how much you can trust the seller and the payment method: Fund the transaction via PayPal (if at all, since any large sums with unverified members will raise alarms bells) using a CREDIT CARD! That way you can initiate a chargeback with the credit card company if it goes belly-up - it's one of the few ways PayPal will reverse a transaction.

Best advice is use an escrow service - you transfer funds to the escrow service, the website gets transferred to you and once you're happy as larry you allow the escrow to pass the funds onwards to the seller. This works well, but there are scams of their own designed to extract resources and cash from naive sellers - so some are very wary of such services. Use a well known service such as Moneybookers.

This may sound obvious - but DON'T use western union, cash or any kind of untraceable fund transfer.

With regards to checking someone's authenticity, I've written a pretty comprehensive internet scam check system I use and have publicly exposed a handful of fraudsters on another forum - VVV satisfactory!
