Default SBI traffic question

Hi Lisa, on your youtube video talking bout sbi, you said when you tried sbi and followed their teaching, within one year you were earning about $750/month with google adsense alone. I was wondering if you recall about how many pages you had when that happened?

im asking this because on sbi forum everyone is saying that im doing fine and not abnormal at all that 95% of my pages are not ranking and <30s even though i had my site for year and half. They are telling me that 40 pages is not enough and i just basically need lot more content. and was wondering what you think of this.

or if anyone else had similar case, id live to hear it.

thanks

I would say it took about a year and a half. Because I remember it was January of 2007 when my rankings just shot up in Google. In December 2006 I had about 700 visits per day and then in January 07 it went up to 1100 per day because of Google traffic. I remember that part distinctly because I had never had a site's traffic suddenly increase like that. I didn't have many pages... maybe 25 or so? I can't really recall.

I always hesitate to get into pages and comparisons because you can't really use someone else's traffic as a benchmark. As I said in a recent video I did about my SBI! traffic, I started that site 4 years ago and everything is going to vary depending on your niche, etc. To be honest, it really isn't always about the number of pages. My SBI! site only has like 46 or 48 pages right now.

I am ranking very well for a lot of different long-tail keywords (30,000+ to be exact) and that's really what is feuling that traffic.

Oh BTW, I edited my name out of the title of this thread. I'd prefer people not ask for me in the title because it creates a habit of people asking for my opinion personally and I may not be able to get to every thread (even though I do try to answer when I have something to share). Hope you understand.

Hi there,

I presume you're talking about your charcoal drawing website. I plugged it into Yahoo Site Explorer to check the number of links and Yahoo has only picked up 183. This is good, but for traffic to build I find that content building must go hand-in-hand with link building. Here's a challenge for you: - for every content page on your website, try and get 5 quality links from completely different sources. Take a week out of writing and really focus on building some backlinks. It'll take a bit of time for it to make a difference, but in the long run links build your websites credibility - both to humans and search engines. That can only be a good thing!

Default hi

thanks for that advice. im always kind of unsure how to best go about getting backlinks.

There are number of art-related forums on the web. So if i make posts in those forums with my links ,would that help?

Yah! Consider link building as 'credibility building'. Google doesn't semm to take notice of dozens of signature links, but forums can build traffic and loyal customers.

Comment on peoples blogs related to your niche, write and distribute articles on article directories, hubpages, blogs, forums - submit to directories. You're using SBI aren't you? Trawl through the TNT HQ Link Development section - that kind of infomation is worth it's weight in gold!

Self-promo within a forum is best avoided. It's about building relationships and credibility. The point of signatures is if someone's interested, they'll click through. It they're not, well.. it doesn't make any difference to your bottom line.

It would be hard to determin who follows who on a forum - my advice is try it and see the results. A week of blitzing one or two topic-related forums could give you some results to work with (and a chunk of traffic!)

Default hi

thanks again. i actually been with a lot of art forums but doesnt rly help with traffic becuz seems like they mostly like to chat within forum and post theit painting pics and critiq etc. but i never get much increase on vistitors to my site

I can put my link on posts without ppl thiking im promotong though. Like if someone is interested in seeing good master drawings, id give him my link to my mastrer drwings page etc. i just want to know if that would help with search engine. Not really hopeful about receiving traffic thru art forums.

If you feel you've tried one forum extensively and have amounted a good number of posts (50-100 in a week?) to draw a conclusion, then it's best to move on if it hasn't yielded a good enough response. You can always return..

Try and get in contact with some big blog owners and talk them into an article. Perhaps become a regular commentor on their posts first so they get to know you?
