Default SBI Personal experiances

Hi I am new to the forum and also new to website building, internet marketing etc. I'm great in theory! I have done alot of research and finally some terms are starting to sound familiar and I even know what they relate to!

However I am currently investigating SBI as a possible choice for a web host - but mostly for all the benefits I have been reading about. I would be interested in some testimonials, for want of a better word, from people who have been complete beginners to website building, internet marketing and SBI starting in 2007 (though anybodys words of wisdom are welcome!). I want to gain some insight into the process involved, any issues or challenges that may have presented themselves and how you overcame them.

I am particularly interested in those who use their SBI site for affiliate marketing as this is the path I am interested in pursuing. In my country's currency $299USD becomes quite an investment so I want to go eyes wide open.

Though I do confess that I am pretty sold already!

Thank you in advance

Hi Missyb

I'm one of those very slow movers. I bought SBI nearly a year ago but due to life's issues I had to put my building on hold until the last couple of months. My site is not live yet but will hopefully be by the end of this month.

I tried to create 3 different sites on affiliate/making money without sbi and it wasn't the building that got me tripped up, it was understanding why I couldn't get traffic. SBI has been AWESOME about educating me on why so many sites fail and how to brainstorm and decide on a topic that sets me up for a lot of free targeted traffic from sites like Google, Yahoo, MSN.

Let me tell you... if you don't have traffic out here, you're doomed. And a cheap host is not going to teach you how. Probably the most valuable part of the purchase for me has been the sbi community forums. Once you buy you have access to the forums where you can ask questions and chat with other customers. So you're not alone. I ask those people EVERYTHING but I'm glad I make use of that resource because it's so helpful. Many people that post in the forums already have 4, 5 and even 6 successful SBI! sites and they are eager to help newbies like us.

I am just getting started and don't have the great success that Lisa has with her sbi site, but I at least understand so much more than I did when I was on my own and I took the time to really follow the SBI guide.

That's key too! Don't buy it and rush through the tutorials and guides. They're there for a reason so you must follow them. Ken is notorious for being a little uhhhh..... wordy so be prepared to do a lot of printing and reading. But it's worth it!

Wish I had more concrete success to show you but give me about 6 months or so and I'm confident I will now that I have the time to work on my site.

Hello Missyb

I am using SBI to build my website - I am a complete novice in the world of web design. It is packed with information on where your focus should be each step of the way. I thought that I would get a cute name - any name, get a page written and bingo my web site would be there on the Internet for all to see. I understand now how to satisfy the search engines with my content and design and hopefully not fall into the same trap that other web sites fall into.

It is an investment up front but I kind of look at it as a home study course now that I have SBI at home. It does take a while to work through each stage but it will pay off in the long run I am sure.

I am even now thinking of learning HTML which was not even a consideration for me before. I thought that I did not have the time but working through this SBI course shows me that I actually can find the time.

Good luck !

Thanks for your replies.

Well you did it...you tipped me over the edge.
You are now (figuratively) looking at the latest SBI owner

As a recovering Procrastinator and Perfectionist, this is quite a move!

Max - I agree wordy! From what I have skimmed (I know, read them properly!) I am very impressed with the way the material is delivered. The emphasis is on doing things the right way and being broken up to manageable tasks is just what I need. I see why you think of it as more of a home study course Star!

My original reply got deleted due to a sudden drop in my internet connection, which I raved on about it some more...
