Default Advice Needed

Hello everyone,

I am newbie here and this is my first post. I apologize if its in wrong category. Basically I have one concept for the website and I dont know where to start from. I am sorry I wont be able to discuss my concept(as you can understant) but as a clue something similar to price comparison site. I just need to know whether using SBI I will be able to create rich site. I believe the site will have database and lot of information. I have never created a website before and entirely immune to web development. I have started to learn HTML.

So I want to get some advice before I jump into it. Thanks in advance.

Yes and no. You could use SBI!'s InfinIt feature but that would require you to also use a low-cost host in addition to your SBI! fee. (I think they recommend Bluehost). So for your content pages, you could use SBI! but you'd need the Bluehost/SBI! combo to complete the database portion because the database part will have to be hosted by Bluehost (or whatever host you choose.) Some people have done this. They really want the marketing help SBI! provides so they figure spending an extra $8/month for the regular host is worth it to get what they want.

Thank you very much lisa for your help. I have asked some professional and they quote me around 600 to 700 pounds for website design and maintaince. Do you think its fair or you rather think its expensive?

Also if I want to do it everything(domain name, web host space) from site built it. How much will it cost?

I would also like to know that if i buy domain name and web host space and start creating web page but I dont wont them to be live until i finalise my site how will this be possible.

It depends all that they will do. I'm not very good at estimated what web design is worth because so much depends on what you will get. For $299/yr with SBI! you get the site builder, brainstorming research tools, hosting space, gudiance, etc. All that comes with the $299/yr. Best thing to do is go to http://demo.sitesell.com and see what you'll get.

You can create your content locally and then publish when you're ready.

Hi Kalps,

You meantion a price comparison site? How do plan to work this..

If the term 'affiliate marketing' doesn't mean anything to you then look into it - it's where you promote a merchants products in return for commission on end sales. Affiliate networks can let you use data feeds to put together simple price comparison sites.

BUT

Sites such as Kelkoo take a lot of work to build up and maintain. You've got to keep all the products indexed up to date, latest offers from merchants etc. It isn't an easy business.

SBI may not necessarily be the best platform for you to go ahead with this - Site Build It is all about content-rich sites with high-demand/low competition keywords which encourages lots of FREE search engine traffic; afterall people search for keywords - where are those keywords going to appear on your price comparison site.

Another few things. Why would people visit your price comparison site ahead of anyone elses AND where are you planning to drive targeted traffic from?
