Default No one touching these question so far?

Hello Lisa,
I am a beginner in website building. I have been reading through your websites and forum for one week and digesting. I am in the planning stage of websites. I am seriously considering buying SBI however I still have some questions which I still don't see anyone ask regarding SBI as following:

(i) I study through other site building tool and mostly they let you work on standard template which you can't change the location of navigation bar, does SBI have such function to change it? I know you can change HTML code and upload.

(ii)Let say for example I create a website which review about wine. I am going to create following navigation bar: HOME, WINE BY COUNTRY, WINE BY CATEGORY, WINE BY THUMBNAIL PHOTO and etc. I will write the review under HOME every week and my plan is such that every review information will store into WINE BY COUNTRY, WINE BY CATEGORY, WINE BY THUMBNAIL PHOTO. After sometime the review will accumulate. If someone go to WINE BY COUNTRY and click Australia and it will show my latest review of Australia wine to the last review in new webpage which I wrote last time. Or another case when someone click on WINE BY THUMBNAIL PHOTO and it will show him all the arranged thumbnail photo of wine and if he click the Photo of Wine A then it will show the review article in new web page which I wrote last time.

My question is can SBI perform this kind of customisation function without changing & uploading html code?

(iii) For every review I write in HOME, can SBI create comment column at the bottom of the review?

(iv) Does SBI have "SEARCH THIS SITE" function ?

(v) Does SBI allow me to change the theme font for example letter "O" to so it will look more creative for the Websites Theme wording? In short can SBI perform graphic design edit function on websites?

Thank you very much indeed for your information before I commit to buy SBI.

Best rgd

Bryan

Hi Bryan

If I understand it correctly, you're trying to have your content organized similar to a blog where the newest content for a category is displayed first. No, you cannot accomplish this with SBI! since it only supports static websites. Now, if you "upload your own HTML" you will have a lot more freedom with placement of your left navigation but in terms of ordering the content the way you want it upon publishing, you would need dynamic site which is usually done with a CMS like Joomla or Drupal.

You can add columns but you'd have to do it all manually.

As far as fonts, you can select what font you want in your stylesheet or even HTML code. But I wouldn't recommend getting too fancy because if the person viewing your site doesn't have that same font on their computer then it won't show for them. But the great thing about using a stylesheet is you can set the order for the fonts.

So if they don't have the first font, then the next font will show up instead.

There is no built-in search this site function. Most people use Google Search which is free and very easy to install. I'm using it on my flat-stomach-exercises.com site.

Hello Lisa,
Thank you very much indeed for your great advise. As a beginner I am bit worry of going a wrong path and got to start all over again. So I will use Joomla to work on my content and for the font for my websites Theme I will design using Dreamveaver. I plan to sign domain name and webhosting with Website Palace. I presume WebsitePalace server software can support Joomla (required Apache/MySQL/PHP). Let me know if you have a better suggestion.

Once again thank you for your great advice.

Bryan, SBI does have an upgraded tool called Content 2.0 that will allow users to post comments, add photos, etc. to your site postings. It is very valuable.

One of the keys to success with SBI is having a solid keyword strategy.

That is the first thing you do, before you lay out the site.

Keep in mind the search engine spiders never see the design.

It sounds like you have a good vision for your site, so good luck!
