Post Description for my home page

Hi Guys

How are you all ? I have linked into the SBI forums and I am reading up on relevant topics for me at this time BUT I have a quick question that I thought you guys might be able to answer for me.....pretty please.............

I am about to go live with my Web site home page and I have placed my home town in my 'description' box that will give a little taste of what my web site is about. I have done this because whilst I will be building my web site with information on health and exercise I am teaching Pilates and what to advertise where I am located. Now...........what if I change locations can I easily change this ' description information' or am I stuck with it ?

If I only place my home town information in the content area within my page will people still find me if they type in "Pilates Oviedo" ?

I understand now the importance of key words in each section that you complete. I must say ( as someone who knew 'nothing' ) that I am getting on very well with SBI tools !

Hi Star,

A lot depends on how much competition is out there for that phrase. My first inclination would be not many people would be using that keyword phrase but you can use brainstorm it to see how often it is searched and check the supply.

------Time elapsed------

OK, I just did a search on Google for that phrase and there are only 149,000 total results. That is extremely LOW for that phrase so I would think mentioning the phrase once or twice in your content is enough to get you ranked well and you probably wouldn't even need it in your description.

I have a question for you. Is the main goal of your site to be found locally? Or are you just looking at any traffic from that keyword an added bonus. Because if you are really going after Pilates in Oviedo then it should be in your description as SBI! suggests.

However if this phrase is just an added bonus, one mention on your homepage would probably be enough since there doesn't appear to be much competition for this phrase.

Just remember, your body content is much more important than the description tag in terms of getting ranked for a particular phrase.

Hi Lisa

I want to capture those people who are also looking for a Pilates class in Oviedo.

OK, then it may be good to add it into your description as well as your content.

Thanks Lisa, can I amend the info in the Description and Keywords at any time once my page has loaded or can I only change and update the info in my pages?

You can change it an anytime. Just understand it may take a few days for Google to re-spider your site to get your update but that's no big deal.
