Post Content advice...

Hey Family,

I had a question about SBI regarding content information knowing they don't provide that based on what I read in the forum. What recommendations can anyone provide for learning how to write or get content info if this is new to you like myself? In a sense, I feel a bit intimidated but I'm willing to learn. I want to do it right once I purchase SBI.

Thanks & Peace,
moimoi94

One thing I've learned about making money from content-only sites is that the goal is to prove you are the expert in your niche by providing useful facts not found elsewhere and showing your personality in your writing and even videos like I do on 2create.

I can't tell you how many people have emailed me and told me they wanted to purchase products from my affiliate link because my site helpd them and it seemed to be operated by a human and not an anonymous person looking to make a quick buck.

I don't have any real hidden or secret strategies other than just being purely honest about the information I provide. I generally only promote products I use and give specific examples of how it can help my audience and I try not to make every page a sales page.

If you are going for the content-rich site approach, remember people are going to be finding your site in the search engines so they are likely seeking information. Give them what they want (and then some) and they will be more likely to purchase products you recommend, bookmark your site, etc. etc.

The biggest mistake I see with content rich sites is that the information is either not unique enough (you can find a lot of the info anywhere) or the site lacks personality and appears to be authored by an anonymous person.

Remember, if you want people to buy products you recommend they need to trust you and you have to rely on your writing to do this.

So your goal is to choose a topic you are the expert in and come across as a genuine, helpful person that offers a lot of useful, free content.

I also try to keep my ads and affiliate links to a minimum. Some people believe that the more ads they have the better because that just increases the chances they'll make money. While that may be true in some cases, you don't want to saturate your pages with so many ads that it's obvious you just built the site to profit. You have to find a happy medium.

And all this comes from learning the ropes and getting your feet wet out here. My first site was very sales pitchy. I focused so much on promoting the latest products that I didn't give my audience useful, free info.... which is what most were looking for.

I know I've written a lot but that's what I've learned in my years of marketing content sites for profit. And just remember, no one should give you your content. It should come from within. That's why SBI! coaches you so heavily on finding your passion.

Arrow Expert?

Hey Lisa,

Thanks for responding but I'm a bit puzzled when you say speak as an expert on a particular matter. For example, I love to travel and try to visit different cities and countries as much as possible. I have broad knowledge on travel but far from being an expert. Although once I purchase SBI, I will possibly do a site on a particular Caribbean Island that I've adopted as my second home-information site.

So I guess I feel uneasy a bit coming from an expert point of view as my audience might ask for my credentials or question me about my expertise. I don't know to be honest. How do I become an expert if I'm a novice from the start?? Let me re-read your reply a few times to let soak in.

Peace,
moimoi94

When I say "expert", I don't mean intellectually or professionally so much. I mean an informative person that can give great advice to someone who is looking for information on a particular topic.

And you can become that "expert" by doing your research and adding as much info about the Caribbean that you want. So it's definitely something you can research as you go.

This should be fun and not feel like work so don't think there's THE perfect way of going about it. It's all about finding something that interests you and presenting the information in the most useful, informative (and even entertaining) way possible.

Look at Ken's daughter's site www.anguilla-beaches.com. It's written from a teenager's point of view and they are based on her experiences on the island of Anguilla. Notice the personal photos, restaurant reviews, etc. Everything is very casual.

No one's going to ask you or expect you to have official credentials if you're simply providing advice based on your experience. And if you want to add information on your site from your own research then you should site your references letting your audience know where you retrieved the info from.

But if the information you put on your site is common knowledge and written in your own words, based on your own experiences, that's all you have to be concerned with.

Think of building your site as a person helping a friend learn about the Caribbean. What restaurants would you recommend? What sites would you recommend seeing? Can you show pictures from your travels that will appeal to your audience? These are the kinds of things you want to think about.

anguilla-beaches.com is a great example of how to build a content rich money making site without it looking like a money making site, if that makes sense.

Lightbulb Content...

Hi Lisa,

Now it's sinking in and thanks for the way you explained it to me. It will put me on the right path if I decide to take that route of doing a site on an island or another niche topic. The site www.anguilla-beaches is very impressive and has started sparking some ideas on my prospective site including doing some different things. Research is one of the keys to building a profitable site that's fun to me and informative to others and yes it makes sense and a lot of cents!

Gracias,
moimoi94

Great! And you're right. Research is very important. And also when you do decide on a topic, do a google search for the keywords/topics you will target and see what's out there. Start mapping out ideas and brainstorming for things you can add that these sites don't have. That's key when you're competing out here.

Hola Lisa,

SBI! is really rubbing off on you huh...I actually picked up the free ebook from Allan Gardyne's site about Ken Envoy's Sitesell. Quite informative I figured I read through it a few times before the purchase and do some of the steps your recommending .

Thanks,

Hello Moimoi94

If you choose something that is close to your heart and you know a certain amount of information about that subject then your page comes across as honest and informative. Your content reflects what you do know and will offer advice for those seeking more information on that topic.

I think that Lisa's Web Site comes across as just that. Lisa is right I decided to purchase the SBI packet through her site because 'she' gave me some very useful down to earth information and answered many of my questions.

I am sure that there are many sites giving information that is not accurate, but all you can do is stand behind what you know and if you are not sure I would research it, ask some experts and draw your own conclusion.

Thanks Star,

You made a great point and it's something I'm going to post soon in regards to the teleclass I attended last night (stay tuned for that). So many people get stuck because they worry they don't know enough about one thing but the point is there are always going to be people who know more than you in whatever topic you choose. Don't worry about those people because they aren't your target audience.

Focus on educating the people who do not know what you know and can learn from you. Trust me... there will be plenty of those people too.

I get a LOT of critical emails about 2createawebsite from programmers who say my site is "behind the times", etc. But my goal for 2create was never to keep up with the latest in programming, scripting, etc. I wanted to target beginners who want to build a site without having to learn all the technical stuff. My experience is in writing and marketing so that's what I push more on my site than anything.

I could never compete with the heavy programming sites and never will. But I knew there were thousands of people like me who just want to learn enough to get their site up and maintain it. So I focus on those people because I'm not interested in learning to become top-notch programmer. That's just not my interest.

So focus on what you love and you know and there will always be people that will get something out of your content.
