Time to buy SBI?
You could call me a newbie to both SBI and website building
I know a lot about computing in general and other areas, I tend to catch on and learn things very quickly but at the moment this is all fairly new to me and i have decided to jump on and get stuck in!
So i will tell you my current situation, i have the:
-money for SBI
-the tools for creating a website
-the ideas and focus
-What my content will be/ different sections etc
-Research
-Designs of website layout
-The time and when I take my last exam on the 12th of June, I will only have a part time job to attend, so this will be my focus
So there are certain things I'm unsure about like being taxed on my money from google adsense etc but those are problems that I will not meet until my website is up and running with good content
My main concern now is should I go out and buy SBI? I plan to go out and buy it within the next 1-5 days, is there anything else i should do before buying it or will all the information be in SBI, the action guide etc etc?
Thanks for replies!

It's all in there...
Hey Craig you've got a big adventure ahead. Everything you need to know to get started is in there (ad nauseum). You'll be bombarded with so much information you're head will be spinning.
The secret is to follow the Action Guide and don't get ahead of yourself. Worrying about paying taxes on Google money is waaaaaayyy ahead of yourself.
And don't think you know what you're site is going to be about yet or even what it should look like. That's too far ahead too. You may have picked something that won't make you any money.
The best thing about SBI! is it will force you to really look at site concepts and keywords BEFORE you start building a site. This will help make sure you don't lead yourself down a dead-end street to no traffic and no way to make money.
Don't even think about a domain name until you've been through Brainstormer. Picking the right domain is critical for early success with your site.
And most of all try to be patient. It will probably take you all summer just to get a handle on what you need to know. You're learning how to build a business after all... not just a website.

Very informative post thanks!
I will likely buy Site build it tomorrow and make a start, i do seem to be jumping the gun a little, I'm 18 now and am so close to finishing my UK A-levels I'm just so desperate to get out now! I'm bored with the daily routine of going to school every week
I have done my research on the SBI tool and I know it has all the crazy stuff to help with keywords etc which is why i have not settled on specific domains, however what I plan to do I think will have success, how much we will have to wait and see
And your probably right about it taking all Summer but by the end of this month i will have a lot of free time, hopefully all will go well
Thanks

Think again, Craig
The right time to think about taxes is yesterday! A lot of people pay thousands of dollars in taxes every year because they do not learn about taxes and because they do not organize and structure their financial affairs correctly, especially when they are first in business for themselves.
Of course you may not earn enough to offset all your expenses the first year, but if you earn enough money as a result of all your jobs put together to pay taxes, you will lose a significant part of every dollar by not planning now and taking appropriate action. This income will be added to your other income so if you cannot show your expenses you will pay on the gross income.
You need a starting point for your business. Even if you do not register a fictitious name with your state there are other actions you can take. Opening a checking account can help. For things you have already done, sit down and make a list of expenses.
You say you have "the tools for creating a website." If you are talking about Dreamweaver or other software, if you are talking about a camera and related equipment, if you are talking about a computer, all of these are tools of the trade for your business for whatever percentage of their use is for your business! And of course you have the expenses that are more direct like registration and hosting.
If you happen to make a few hundred dollars your first year, would you rather keep it all or spend a large part on taxes. Even if you do not make a profit, you can do the bookwork and carry over a loss. That way you can save on taxes next year.
Think ahead. If you do not have the records to show expenses you lose them. A penny saved is two pennies earned. And it is not really hard to keep track. Even if adsense (and other income) comes later, these expenses made in preparation for the income counts. You are thinking intelligently by asking questions ahead instead of after the fact when it is often too late.
Craig, let me also congratulate you for getting your money together first instead of following the buy now pay later attitude of so many. This is but one sign that you will do well.

Thankyou for your advice! I'm the sort of person that saves a lot and keeps an eye on the pocket, I will definitely take a more thorough look into taxes before I finish day 5 of SBI
