Default links to your other sites in SBI!

Hello All and Thanks in Advance,

I have been poking around many SBI sites and I have to say, with the exception of a few, they are well organized and informative. (I am liking SBI more and more... now if I would get off my duff.)

Here is my question: Do you think having links on your website to your other SBI sites is a plus from a marketing perspective? even if the content of your other sites is non-related?

Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick,

I think your question is really one that can be asked of any site, regardless of how your site is created or who hosts it. So, if you remove SBI! from the equation, your question really is....

If you own multiple sites should you link them even if the subjects are unrelated.

My answer is no.

I try really hard to "keep my site real" for my visitors. I try not to link to any site that I feel would be of little or no interest to my visitors because I want them to grow to trust me.

My visitors come to my site because they want to learn about my topic, which happens to be organization. So if I had a second site about a completely unrelated topic, such as model airplanes, for example....there is no reason for me to think that a link to a model airplane site would be of any interest to my visitors who are looking to organize their homes.

I tend to agree with Tracy for the most part. The only way I would link to other sites is if they were somehow compatible. In the SBI Affiliate Masters Course Ken writes about having a Master Domain that has branches out to your various sites. He uses the travel site that his daughter built, that now has grown from The Best Anguilla Beaches, to other The Best...

But, on the flip side, with the example that Tracy gives with the two un-related niches, I totally agree. The most important thing you can do is to make your visitor trust and like you and feel that their interest is your very special top notch concern.

Also, am I remembering correctly that links to sites that have nothing to do with your content can actually work against you with the Search Engines?
