Default how to track Affiliate banners?

hi,
I understand that Affiliate links can only be tracked in SBI Stats (Click Through) if they are stored in the link library AND inserted in your page using the link block.
But the problem is, how do you insert a banner link into the linklibrary as it contains an image? You can't use html in the linklibrary.

I just don't know how to get my clicks on banners counted in the Click-Throughs-Stats as I am unable to insert them in the linklibrary??

Hi Nobi

I usually use Track It! instead of the Link Library. Just create a tracking link to the page you want to promote (Home page, order page, etc.) and use that link with your banner. Then you can login to Track It! to track not only the clicks but the conversions of each link.

hi Lisa, thanks for the answer.
What is track it!? Is that part of SBI?
I never heard of it.
And do you use this for your site flat-stomach-exercises.com as well, which is an SBI site?

I was thinking you meant for the SiteSell affiliate program. Nevermind. Scratch that. No, I don't use Track It! for my flat stomach exercises site. I use the Link Library too. My brain isn't on quite yet.

You can't insert a banner into the library but you can still track it. Let's say you are promoting a banner on your homepage and it goes to an affiliate link at CJ.com When you create a new tracking link in the Link Library, just use the banner's destination link and track that. Is that what you mean?

Yes, I got a banner on different pages. which points to Sharesasale.com.
I think you mean I should just insert http://www.shareasale.com into the link library.
But the problem is, that I have to insert the banner into my textblock using the textlink block to be tracked or not? When I do that, the image (banner) will not be included in the link and the image will not show.
Furthermore I have to position the banner with the code below as my banners are placed at different places, sometimes high, sometimes low.

How are you tracking it?

Is it correct that a link which is in the link library will only be tracked if I insert it using the text-link-block??

The code is the one below.

="position:absolute; top:1050px; margin-left:-157px; ">

Oh OK, you're using the builder. Quick question. Since you're using ShareASale, why not just use the code they provide and let them track it? You can just paste the entire code into the text box right in SBI!? Or is it because you want everything tracked in one place? I understand that.

When I used the block by block builder I always coded my HTML for images and wrote it right into the Text box so forgive me if I'm not following you completely. If you really want to use the Link Library then when you insert your image, use straight HTML code like this...

HTML Code:
<a href="http://www.link-to-affiliate-site.com"><img src="http://www.link-to-banner.gif"></a>
Where http://www.link-to-affiliate-site.com (your shareasale link) is what you would setup with Tracker Library.

I have a feeling I should have left this thread alone because I'm probably confusing you even more. See, I hardly ever used the Link Library. I used to just to hand-code my HTML right into the box in the Block by Block builder without using many of the tools like the link library.

Never mind. Bye the wy you can't use href codes in the link library, however nobody in the SBI forums could solve my problem now.

I might give up on tracking Affiliate links that are using banners and just do what you say and get all pages tracked in one summary by ShareAsale.

Or do they split up the counts for each page? I just found the summary.
I thought they give just the summary for the months and what you sold and that's it.
But this would not tell me the success of each single page I mean the click rates are different from page to page. This was what I had in mind, to be able to check the success of each page.
But this can be done apparently only with textlinks (in the link library) not with banner links.

Thanks anyway
Nobi
