For those who have purchased SBI -- How much of the site, ebooks and videos did you read/watch before you bought it?
Personally, I am finding all of the material a bit overwhelming and quite repetitive. I am going through the Affiliate Masters ebook (which I'm finding is kind of parallel to the SBI Action Guide), and I just started reading Make Your Content Presell.
What is the difference between Make Your Content Presell and Make Your Words Sell? Are they really two different books with different information or do they just repeat each other?
I tend to fall into the trap of researching, researching, researching and not taking action. So I'm trying to get past that and move forward because I think I have a great idea. So.....how much research did you do before you bought?
I totally understand. A lot of the SBI! material is redundant and it's easy to get overwhelmed. That's a very common complaint among potential customers. The site was much smaller and there were no videos or e-books when I bought back in 2005. I think what ultimately convinced me was the case studies pages. Since my site was targeted to newbies, I was impressed by the number of people who never created a website before but were making good money. So I bought it so I could do a better job of PREselling as a SiteSell affiliate.
Make Your Content PREsell is more about how to make money as an affiliate and goes into much greater detail about affiliate marketing and writing content. Make Your Words Sell is more focused on writing good copy whether you're an affiliate or not.

I read a lot of other material on Lisa's site first, then checked out the
SBI case studies and read part of the action guide. I knew in a couple
of days Sbi was what I was looking for.
I checked out the action guide to see if it seemed do-able to me.
It was my husband who bought SBI, after doing some research on starting an online business. He said he looked at about 40 to 50 links, and the only one that didn't seem like a scam was SBI. He checked through the action guide and checked out all the case studies available.
He told me he bought it for me so that I could try and create a website with the potential to earn some money from home after I left my job. To be honest, I thought "here we go again...what GRQ scheme have you gotten us into?..." I argued that I didn't know enough about anything to make a website, I didn't know how to make a website, I told him he was crazy.... Then I started reading the action guide.. I was hooked after the second page!
Turns out I did know enough about something to make a website and SBI made it possible! It was overwhelming in some spots, for sure, and I was a nervous wreck the day I registered my domain name... but I just kept plugging away. It's easy to get bogged down, but just take it one step at a time, one day at a time, and then one page at a time!!
I was going to post about this, too much information can have a negative effect, a while ago and never did. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I too have had a sense of being overwhelmed with all of the information. However, I did find a few rare jewels within all of the text in the Affiliate Masters Course that made it worth reading.
When I visit a website I like things to be simple to find.
I have not had that experience with Site Sell, which is related to the SBI website. The pages are so over crowded with information. It has taken me a long time to wade through and learn the navigation features on the site.
Like you, I am reading the Affiliate Masters Course. Though I know 100% that SBI is the program I'll purchase when ready, to be as prepared as possible, I'm "using" the Affiliate course like a "prep" tool....working through it as I go, getting used to the features and functions in Search It!, etc.
Since starting I've watched my idea for the URL/domain change and improve, just with all the course is teaching me and "shaping" my thinking and perception.
The more I can expose my mind/brain to the SBI material, I figure, the better I'll be able to utilize the Action Guide when I'm starting "for real".
Having set July as my "goal line" for purchasing SBI, after the Affiliates Masters Course, I'll read both the Make Your Words Sell, followed by Content.

Hi,
I, too, am reading the Affiliate Master course and it has a lot of great, helpful information on getting started. I have used the Search It! tool to do more research on the topics I am considering for my websites. I have even started writing some of my content although I haven't purchased SBI yet (I plan to purchase in the next few months). But I'm happy to get a head start on writing my content so when I do purchase SBI, I won't be so overwhelmed.
My advice for those who have yet to purchase SBI would be to read and study as much of the material as you can now so you will have a head start when you do purchase the actual product.
I understand your concerns. There are so many programs out there it's hard to choose one to get started. When you don't know much about building a website and you don't have a lot of extra money to throw around, that makes it a little more difficult.
I first heard about SBI when I Googled, "how to build a website.'' That's where I came across Lisa's site "2createawebsite." There were many other people besides Lisa promoting it so I figured it must be a good program. I also did a Google search for the most popular website building programs. SBI cracked the top 5 in quite a few lists.
I've been using the software for 8 months now. If you think this is going to be a get rich quick scheme - be forewarned. I appreciated the honesty from SBI founder, Ken Envoy. He specified it was going to take a lot of work and dedication to be successful. That's true with any business. So if you're going to make a purchase make sure you're in it for the long haul.
I did a lot of research into different packages before I bought SBI (reading reviews for example). SBI certainly seemed by far the best to me, and I'm very happy with it.
I didn't look much into the action guide or the ebooks before I bought - however, I think they're pretty good. I don't find the info you get repetitive, especially as a newbie the problem was rather too much new information. I suppose I think there might be a little redundancy, now I know more about it and have started reading other sites like Lisa's as well. But this really isn't a problem in general, in my opinion.
Hi again! Though I did post earlier, since compleating the Affiliate Masters Course and beginning MYCPS/Make Your Content Pre-Sell I have another "learned point" to share.
The basic frame for when you build your SBI website is based on three Tiers...basically site concept, topics and supporting pages of the content for the topics.
I've found that my idea and vision of my website is coming more sharply into focus as I continue working through the e-books. Even if some of the knowledge is offered in a repeatitive way, it's just to make sure the lessons are able to be caught and learned.
Anyway, for me, it's not researching whether or not I want to buy SBI, but learning all that I can before the real "test" begins...actually putting it all into practice!
