Default Changing from asp to html

Hi, here's a question for the techies here.

I am very interested in buying a website that is written using asp (which I know nothing whatsoever about), which I would like to transfer to SBI!. Obviously this would mean changing all those asp pages to html pages.

The question is, having changed the page suffix from asp to html, does this make it a completely new page as far as Google is concerned? The site has loads of internal pages that have very high page rank, obviously I don't want to lose that by changing to html.

Thanks for your thoughts
Steve

Hi Steve,

You would have to convert them to HTML and as far as Google goes it would be like a new page so you'd have to setup a 301 redirect (I believe) but since your content is going to be on SBI! server's not even sure that is possible.

I wouldn't do that, as you have to rebuild every page. SBI has a big database where everything is stored, all images etc. I believe every page will be created completely new and pinged to the search engines. SBI is not like another webhoster. For example you cannot create your own folders on your webspace as they are already determined. (support-folder, images-folder)
