Default Is SBI right for my project?

Hello everyone,

I'm a long-time lurker, newbie poster.

I have a specific project that I'm trying to figure out whether SBI would be worth buying for.

I'm trying to create a portal aimed at English-speaking parents in Hungary.

1. My target audience is rather small, the population of English-speakers in Hungary probably does not exceed 40 000, minus those who are not parents and minus those parents who are not internet addicts. That leaves me with a rather small group, if I'm thinking in terms of monetization.

2. The site, being a portal, would need to have certain functionality, including a categorized directory that users are able to add to, a classified ads section, and a discussion forum. The interactive features could be added later. The core of the portal would be depository of articles, and a directory of English-speaking service providers.

Given that my target audience is so puny and so specialized, is it worth my money to do this portal through SBI? Does SBI offer the plugins I need to create the interactive features like the classifieds and discussion forum?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Reka

Due to all the interaction involved, I would suggest a regular web host like Hostgator, BlueHost, GoDaddy, etc. SBI! is very limited when it comes to installing certain kinds of functionality. It's possible but there are workarounds that may require some extra steps you may not want to take. In my opinion, interactive sites like this should just use regular web hosts.
