Yay! Thanks for using my link too. As alpha7 said, it is so important to follow that action guide and do not rush through the steps. Another tip: Don't let the Brainstorm It tool paralyze you. Also do your own research by doing physical searches in Google to see what kind of competition exists in your potential topic in addition to using Brainstorm It! The numbers only tell part of the story. You also have to look at the QUALITY of your competition because sometimes even though there are a lot of sites on a certain topic, the overall quality is lacking. So if you believe you can compete because you have a unique spin, don't be afraid to tacklet that niche. Go with your gut and passion!!

Make that two of us! Got one today as well.
I decided to take a lay back approach and not rush into things. I have no intentions of making money the first year. I want to learn the fundamentals before even thinking about monetization.

Ya, I kinda seemed a little worried about this at first. Then I kinda realized, I'll just learn as I go. No need to worry or stress myself out about how much $$$ I dont make..lol
I also realized, that the biggest mistake I could make, would be, just to slap a few sites together and hope for the best. Instead, i'll probably wait a few months(when im ready) before, I even put my first site up. Then ill probably take full advantage of SBI special and wait the full nine month's (dead-line) before I activate my second one.
I understand the importance of planning. Something Lisa really stresses about, that I think that alot people tend to ignore or skip this step.
Im just happy to get the oppurtunity.

Maybe I should add your comment to mack77's quote thread in the lounge! LOL Yes, yes yes. Not only is planning ignored but so is the part about learning the fundamentals of marketing which still applies to online businesses too. Unfortunately the get-rich quick hype on the net has many people believing they can just build any kind of site and people will just come, buy whatever they're offering, participate, etc. but there are basic fundamentals such as supply and demand, building credibility, etc. that are often ignored. The principles of marketing still apply online.

Congrats!
My husband and I bought site build in in May, 2008 and have enjoyed our experience greatly.
The hardest part for us was choosing a site concept! Take your time, and enjoy the ride!

Lisa,
Every day I'm learning more and more how right you are. Writing about what I'm passionate about has been something I wanted to do ever since I was a child.
You may think I'm crazy, but not until I saw you on Youtube, did I know I could make money doing so with a website. I thought basically, the only thing you could do is write a book! Or become a writer in some other editorial field.
I'm excited about the fact that I could express my creativity in this way, for the whole world to see.
I'm about to start Day 2. I've been putting it off until I could learn a little bit more about Keywords, Domain Names and Content. Almost there!
Again, good luck Redstone and Xfactor!

Same here! I used to write all the time as a kid and never imagined that love would turn into this. Good luck!

Yes
Lots of good thoughts here. Especially from Lisa (my boldface):

As the old line goes:
Methods are many,
Principles are few.
Methods change often,
Principles never do. That is why building a good site is so much more valuable than learning seo techniques that can be outdated as quickly as the daily newspaper, or should I say blog.
